That's missing the point.  The 44 yard fg wasn't to win the game.  Atlanta gets the ball down 1 with tons of time.  That's still likely a L.   If there was 3 seconds left I'd agree but there wasn't.

and lol @ d it up...their secondary sucks and got torched and their supposed great d line got worked as well.....who is going to d up exactly...plus matt bryant is not cody parkey...legendz is right...atlanta wins with a fg there

i don't get this...you guys realize that the eagles stopped them after the kick right? well they stopped them on 3 downs but it's unbelievable that they stop them on 4th down?

i realize people on here are going to complain just because that's the thing but if he makes that kick birds win.

the d stinks but they played better in the 2nd half

except on the drive with the game on the line

Byron Maxwell was targeted 11 times last night. He allowed 10 catches for 179 yards, both worst in the NFL in Week 1.

nnamdi maxwell did struggle, no doubt. a pass rush would've helped too.  f'n billy davis didn't bring the heat until the 2nd half.
lemonade was a popular drink and it still is

they were max protecting and running 2 man routes for a lot of the game.

This is technically true-- but in reality Maxwell wasn't targeted, Jones was targeted-- Maxwell happened to be there and basically didn't do enough about it. Not a great start. But the way that's phrased makes it sound like they went after Maxwell. They didn't give a shtein about Maxwell, rightfully. They wanted to get it to Jones, and they did. Maxwell just had a front row seat.

kiko and kendricks were blitzing all game

the adjustment he might have wanted to make was giving some help to maxie pad on julio...it felt like bradley fletcher last year where he just refused to address a disasterous situation...billy dee and for that matter chip are so entrenched in m2m press coverage as their philosophy....at some point you need to play your coner off or if you dont wanna do that at least bring a safety over to help...they just sit back and watch the same thing happen over and over again

those are all the wr's he covered that why they say maxwell....it was primarily julio but i recall him getting beat at least twice by roddy white

they blitzed but it was too easy for ryan to pick up the blitzer. davis made adjustments and disguised it better in the 2nd 1/2.

My point is, they threw to the talented open receivers....and Maxwell happened to be (not) covering them. NOW teams might plan to target Maxwell, after that showing.

if you keep letting your man get open it doesnt take long in the nfl for them to go at you...plus hes a sixth round pick who was surrounded by all pros and covered the other teams weaker wr's for his whole career...would it shock you if they game planned to test him?

I just think that's giving him too much credit. I don't think they cared one way or the other.

ice grillin you

yeah mostly.....julio was getting a ton of targets no matter who was on him...but i think a guy who is hitting the spotlight for the first time in his career like that is going to get looked at by the offensive coaches in prep....at the end of the day tho dont let your man get wide open on every play and maybe they will go somewhere else...once they saw early that he had no chance then it was ON
