The Falcons released their starting center (Joe Hawley) and picked up Gino Gradkowski off waivers from Denver, they traded for Levitre who didn't play in the preseason for them, and Matthews missed most of the offseason after Lisfranc surgery.  I would put the O/U on sacks at 3.5, but watch Ryan go the whole game without being touched

I don't think this game is going to be close.  The Eagles' offense might put up 40 on Atlanta.

Atlanta is going to be better this year.  I am thinking around 9 wins.  They'll be able to throw on the Eagles if their line holds up.  I expect a W but on the road against a non-terrible team on MNF who has the potential to exploit your team's weakness is not a cakewalk.

The current over/under in the Atlanta-Philadelphia game has fluctuated between 55.5 and 56 for most of the week. Since 1990, there have been only two Monday Night Football games with an over/under higher than 56, with the most recent coming in 2009 (Patriots vs. Saints)

Matt Ryan started his career 19-9 at home against the spread in the first four seasons of his career. Since then, Ryan is just 11-12 at home against the spread, and is a home underdog of 3 points in this one.

The Eagles are playing their 24th game in the past two seasons with an over/under of 50 or more.

Sam Bradford is playing just his third career game as a road favorite in 26 road starts. The first two times for Bradford were in his rookie year with the Rams (2010).

opener/season predictions

i think the road factor in this game is huge....eagles have a new qb playing for the first time in almost two seasons in a new system with new wr's...and in that dome will struggle out of the gate...no one mentions it because chip is the coach and that is all they need to hear plus there are legitimate big questions regarding the secondary...but both of these things overshadow my biggest concern with this team - the wr's

rave all you want about jordan matthews but hes still just a slot guy who had a real good rookie year as an afterthought to defenses....now hes the "number 1" guy with nelson agholar josh huff and kkk behind him?....that unit frightens me to death...admittedly this is much more of a big picture problem than it is tonight and btwn the backs and te's they can can make up some for the wr against most opponents...remember no ertz tonight tho (my assumption hes listed as questionable and game time deciscion)...so im not suggesting they are going to struggle to score...i have faith that chips system can put pts on the board against the likes of atlanta...as for being good enough to make the playoffs or win in the playoffs we will see

as for tonight i think the eagles start slow then get it together and score some pts just not enough to beat ryan who is infintely better at home than on the road...my prediction will be wrong if the falcons oline is as putrid as everyone says and the eagles are in the backfield all night

what ill be watching for tonight: 1. total number of yards receiving by wr's not named jordan matthews 2. the interior of the eagles offensive line 4. my breakout performer of the year trey burtons number of snaps/targets 3. sam bradfords knees
