the sixers. they have enough talent where they will be a good team for many years...but question is will they be a title contender? the difference is in baseball all good teams are title contenders.

So is it winning a title or competing for a title? 

In the NBA, all you need is 1 legit star player to be a playoff team. Get 2 of them and a half decent supporting cast and you're a title contender.  The Royals were an aboration, much like the 93 Phils. It happens from time to time.

NBA also doesn't require years of scouting and player development.  Draft a guy in baseball and hopefully he's in the bigs in 2-4 years. Draft a college hoops star and he's starting on opening day 4 months later.  You can also mask a players weaknesses in the NBA with good teammates (think AI being able to play passing lanes on D while better defenders like Snow would guard more on the perimeter). 

It's so much easier to accumulate talent in the NBA.  If you have a Thome/Choke situation in the NBA, you can still give both guys plenty of minutes. Can't do that in baseball.

Not only that, but in baseball you have to have offense, defense, at least 3 really good starting pitchers, and a quality bullpen. Just so many more holes to fill than in the NBA.

But yeah, that's def easier than finding 2 star players a 7 or 8 complimentary players.

better yet...look at every playoff team from the last decade. some of them have it, some of them dont. point is it means nothing. anything can happen october.

in the nba, anything cant happen. the best teams and best players win. its hard. sports!

you need a top 25 all time player to win an nba title and those dont grow on trees. you dont even need a current day superstar player to win a world series.
