the good news is that isnt the loss that is going to keep them from making the playoffs

the bad news is ruben amaro can  throw 60 million at a loser dud like papelbon and never see any repercussions for it
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

now that's a dude you outright release and take the money on the chin without looking back.  a fastball that isn't very fast as your only pitch isn't going to cut it chief.  he's overthrowing the ball to compensate for his lost velocity and is going to blow out his arm by june.  phillies.

All it's going to take is one more performance like tonight to get this douchebag out of town.  No way they can keep him around.  Then again we are dealing with the most stubborn man in the world driving the bus.

QuoteBut, later, Papelbon was perturbed at his teammates' defensive alignment. He said McClure visited the mound and said, "OK, let's get a ground ball." Bench coach Larry Bowa signaled for "three" depth, which meant the priority for the infielders was eliminating the runner at third on a grounder, but a double play was still possible because the infield was not completely brought in.

Leonys Martin singled past Utley to tie the game. The next two Rangers walked.

"Obviously I don't know whether that's called for the bench or called from the middle infielders, but less than two outs I'm thinking ground ball and I'm thinking let's get this double play and go home," Papelbon said. "Obviously I'm not going to second-guess my teammates or my coach."

The ball skipped past Chase Utley, drawn in because the tying run stood on third base, and Jonathan Papelbon raised his arms in disgust.

Of course you wouldn't call your teammates out.  You're above that.  you icehole.

c'mon cut crapaton a break. its hard for him to get up for a meaningless game in april while the phillies are still in the race.
If guns kill people then spoons made Rosie O'Donnel a fatass.

in theory it might have been a worse signing than choke's

choke is still at least a major league player. papelbon, if not for the contract, barely has the stuff to be a major league pitcher. whats the difference between him and bj rosenberg.
