Taken seperately, maybe not a huge deal. Taken together, it sure seemed like Gruden was making a statement about the two former teammates.

The taterskins are 3-11 in Gruden's first year as head coach, and they play out the string with home games Saturday afternoon against the Eagles and eight days later against the Cowboys.

Jackson, released by the Eagles following last year, has 50 catches for 957 yards and five touchdowns in his first year with the taterskins. Maclin has 78 receptions for 1,207 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first year playing without Jackson.

Maclin is just as good as Jackson, period. Jackson had the deadly speed to take the top off of defenses which is big, but Maclin partly makes up for that with his decent route running on the mid range routes over the middle. And Maclin isn't that slow, either. Probably a bit slower after the knee injury, unfortunately, but still fast.

What the team needs is someone competent next to him.

And, yes, what really would have been best would have been having Jackson AND Maclin. Chip and Howie and the organization should not have chased him out of town. This offense would be deadly with those two at WR, unfortunately now it's just okay, especially with a Shady that has not been as explosive as he was last year.

From the Eagles perspective, the main point of Jackson vs Maclin isn't who is faster or gets more TDs. Its that both are productive but one is a good team guy and the other doesn't listen to coaches and creates bad team chemistry.

ironically the horrible team guy got them to the playoffs last year and the saint most likely isnt this year,....sports is about talent at the end of the day and you cant get rid of a talent like pimp and not replace it and expect to be better

also its not about numbers its about the spacing on the field and making other people around you better....no more obvious example of that than kkk's celek ertz foles numbers last year versus this year

eagles might be in the same situation but their offense would be much better...avg yards per play has taken a hit

i also understand the argument that they may replace him this offseason....its a fair point to not expect them to have gotten a game changer right away that would mitigate his loss

you just gotta trust that the offense is completely different more easily defensible and not as good without him on the field...literally every player on that side of the ball took a step back this year without pimp except macklin...but numbers have to go somewhere....basically what happened is that the te's the rb the other wr all took steps back while a lot of their numbers went to mack because hes the best wr on a bad wr roster

its hard to explain the game of football to people who hate a player off the field because hes loud and raps...the heart vs. the head is a never ending argument so we will just have to agree to disagree here

You got me dude...I hate his off the field stuff and therefore don't understsnd thd game of football. In reality I know your argument that his talent and big play ability makes defenses account for him every play...you're right it's not something that can be measured with statistics...you're wrong in that you're blaming the offense taking a step back due solely to him playing with the skins. If he was that much of a talent why is the skins offense do much worse this season?
