a lot of this is supposedly pat schumur's responsibility

kelly didnt need an OC...he runs the offense on his own. his hired pat because he wanted an nfl guy to help him with nfl stuff--like challenges and working the clock with the 2 minute warning and how to close out close games week in and week out.

chip came from a place where he had 2-3 competitive games per year. in the nfl you generally get 13ish because the talent level is so equal among most teams. nothing is easy. hes not playing savannah state or utah where he can go up 55-0 at the half.

after the amazing job pat didnt with cleveland im sort of surprised by all of this
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

At safety sure...because Wolff is only ok and Chung is maybe the worst defensive player in the league. But Allen is fine as the starting FS. Don't know what more the guy can do to convince you. The d is playing well in large part because he can cover the deep route.

I don't think he's played well in coverage or in tackling though he is improving, like the rest of the D. He's actually been the SS all year (and much of last iirc). When Chung is out and Wolff, the other SS is in, Wolff most often plays deep and Allen up if they are not splitting the field. Actually, I think Allen does better in press coverage when he's up than when is back in cover-2 or the few times I've noticed him rather than the other safety in single high but is still meh.

What I don't like about him is how, like Asante and to an extent Nnamdi and DRC, he has a knack for being in the vicinity of tackles and maybe jumping in when the guy is already getting tackled or going out of bounds, but he doesn't like to hit and avoids collision. Maybe if you're Ed Reed or Asante bringing in 8  turnovers a year you can get away with it but the guy has forced one fumble in what, 4 years now? He just doesn't like to get his nose dirty and you can't play safety like that. That said, vs AZ was probably his best game this year and it's a contract year so hopefully he'll continue to get better. They'll need him for Megatron, Dez and Alshon.

Cards = Sore losers

QuoteAll game, Arizona appeared to fight the refs on both sides of the ball, but the flags were balanced. Arizona was called for six penalties for 55 yards while Philadelphia had five penalties for 48 yards.

Hope he also sends footage of the Desean TD that was called back

yesterdays game told me that nick foles will not be chip kellys qb of the future....a qb who can run even a little bit would have had over 100 yards rushing...foles is a complete sloth who just doesnt fit

and speaking of chip kelly he had a hideous day yesterday

I had all of these exact same thoughts watching yesterday's game, but I still don't think Kelly will draft a QB next year unless he sees one that really fits. He isn't just going to draft some mobile QB who otherwise blows, or if he does he's a farging moron. If there's a QB that fits I expect Chip to draft them and I would be totally fine with it.

the future could be in two years sure...the great benefit of having foles is that hes proved to be more than good enough to allow you to take your time in finding the right guy....i just think with foles chip sees an efficienct offense but what he really yearns for is a dynamic offense

Or they could stick with the guy who's been the best QB in the league not named Manning or Wilson.   You know... just for shteins and giggles.

certainly possible they stay with foles....imo tho i dont think this is good enough for what chip wants to do with his system....the cardinal game showed what this offense could be if it had a different guy running it...it would have went from effectual to explosive

i'm with igy on this one...as good as foles has been over the last 5 weeks...he's still not an ideal fit for chip's offense. this offense is twice as good with a QB who can at least pretend he's going to run.

i'm not complaining at all, can't ask for anything more from the dude. i just don't see him here long term still.

Newton 25yds , Kaeparnick 18yds, Wilson 29yds and Luck 31yds rushing vs the Cards. If the Eagles played the Card with a running Qb the Cards have the ability to scheme for it. Foles  was 21-34 237yds passing which was better than or on par with the other qb's.

Foles ran 9 times for 22yds so it may seem that a better runner would have run for a better avg. The Cards D is no Joke.

thats kind of the point....a large part of what chip wants included in his offensive system currently is not being prepared for by opposing defenses...im putting myself in chips head but i gotta think he feels that with a qb who is a threat to run the offense wouldnt be shteinting the bed for halves at a time as it has several times this season and for example sunday instead of 24 pts they get 40+ and the game is never in doubt

also sunday was the cardinals sixth road game of the season

in three of them they gave up more pts than the eagles 24 on sunday

the other two were jacksonville and mike glennons first nfl start

so while i agree they are one of the better defenses the eagles have played this year its not like they are the 85 bears and they are a different team on the road

That's why I put his passing yds up. The Cards had to plan for Kaeparnick, Wilson and Netwon and I don't see where the scheme killed them. Hard to say with out actually watching the games I guess. Wilson had 3 tds and a couple backs went over a hundred, but Eagles backs had a nice day too.

Washington, no excuse for the 2nd half play. Against the Cards I can see why you might want to tone down aggressive play calling a bit.

I don't know exactly  when the the Jacksonville / Tampa games took place, but Palmer started out this year terrible. Do you know how many of the +24 are on him or the offence?

no...i just know they are not a very good road team and give up a lot of pts

its not even arguable that the eagles would be a better offense with a qb who can run and pass.....the question is is chip married to having a guy with wheels or is he fine with nick foles...i tend to believe he wants someone that can do it all and take his offense to a whole other level

SEVEN games this season the eagles have socred 10 or less pts in the second half

Those results indicate exactly what I was concerned with in an earlier post.  They're getting out-schemed by d-c's and not making the proper adjustments.  Their aggression also seems to wane later in games.  Not sure why because I'm certain Kelly wouldn't mind stomping other teams' guts out, but there it's still a problem waiting to happen.  Sooner or later a team is going to get lucky and pull out a late one.  I'm just hoping the playoffs aren't on the line when or if it happens.

As for Foles, you can't expect more than he's given.  I think Kelly needs to shape his offense around the kid's talents rather than looking for a Kappy or Wilson.  He's impressed the bejeezus out of me.
