its not about being sure that he would get him...its abut him going after gonzo hardcore as a way to save this season in his mind

smugs biggest downfall is not being able to look big picture....he always is trying to win now o that people don't look at him as a failure....which is weird because gillick was the exact opposite

the phillies are not a big picture team...organizationally even

they wont trade utley because the marketing department wont let them. remember they didnt sign eddie murray (or was it paul molitor) because management thought hed be too boring to sell.

bill giles is a small time clown minor league loser and his culture has continued to permeate itself in the ballclub, save for the 3 years under gillick who is a winner and delivered a winner.

the silent partners are straight biddness-men...only care about that dollar

middleton might or might not really want to win but hes had 30 years to show it and clearly values privacy and profit over winning. otherwise he wouldve stepped up long ago and made some noise.

thusly, youre left with monty running the show and he is giles protege. monty at his core wants to win but not as badly as he wants to run a profitable, classy organization that puts on a good show (essentially a minor league team). it took him eons to fire ed wade and its going to be even longer with boobin.

I doubt they trade him unless they're blown away with an offer. They'll go into next year with Hamels/Lee/Cuban defector/Pettibone/Kendrick, add some bp help and tell us it's a new day.

also maikel franco continues to tear it up in AA but michael young and laynce nix need to....i give up

Knowing these fargtards they're probably keeping Franco down because of service time. Can't have him make it to the Majors too soon because the $$$ clock starts ticking as soon as he does.

yeah but why would you waste service time on a team like this....its not like they have a chance for a postseason run if only they just had a better 3rd baseman

If you're good enough to play in the Majors service time shouldn't be an issue. He's hitting .370 at arguably the best level of the minors. Bring him up and see what he can do.

don't get me wrong I wouldn't be mad if they brought him up...but if service is really an issue this is the time to save it because the team sucks and is going nowhere

if it gives you an extra year of control by saving him until Clearwater next year by all means that what they should do
