They've been playing entertaining baseball lately and in a perfect world I'd like to see them be given the chance for that to continue. I think with the guys the Phils currently have, they could have a much better second half than the anemic start to the year. The NL is really not that good.

That being said, you'd have to be a retard or Reuben Amaro to think single-digit odds of making it into a one-game playoff are worth letting what little value the roster has rot on the vine instead of being reinvested into the team's future. Sell everyone. Sell the batboy if a team will take him. Find Dom some people his age to play with. Or younger, preferably. Otherwise, we get to this point next season and the team sucks even more dick and this time, there are no players except Dom that anyone wants.

the weak league thing only carrys weight imo if you are near the top....as in it gives you a chance to go to the world series

otherwise its worthless...how is it a positive to be a bad team in a bad league....part of the reason the league sucks is because the phillies are in it

i know you dont want them to go for it but if anyone does they have to be looking at the division...they arent winning the wild card theres to many teams...shtein the cubs and mets are closer to the phillies than the phillies are to a wc spot...yes they are farther out from the braves than they are a wc but they have lots of h2h with the braves and only have to theoretically fight with one team (the nats) to get there...plus the phillies have the best record in the division by 3 games

ownership might nix an utley trade. they are so worried about ticket sales and ratings, you have no clue.

at most if they lose over the next 2 weeks they trade the youngs and maybe papelbon. i cant see rube letting lee go. he has to try in 2014, even though he shouldnt.

lee i agree on...hes was never going to trade him....even though you could get more for him than anyone on the roster

utley is a free agent and theres no guarantee hes back anyway so he would be gone if they were bad enough....unfortunately they are going to be in no mans land

lee they can always trade next year...but that hinges on his old self not breaking down. utley im beyond with you on but he is the great white hope face of the franchise GRIT animal lover. i cant see them coldly just sending him to baltimore for a AAA pitcher.

Even if the Phillies wanted to re-sign Utley, I'm not certain he would want to come back.  He's got limited time left in MLB because of his injuries.  Both he and his wife (I believe) are from the West Coast.  I could see him trying to hook onto the Angels or the A's, where he could get some DH time to alleviate the wear and tear of playing second base, and could use some leadership.
