What does a 102 wins get you?

A loss to St. Louis in the playoffs.

So, I got to see a few things I might not get to again in life:

1. Dodgers v. Yankees

2. Watch Derek Jeter play and Mariano River close out a game

3. A couple of rows down, an Asian couple and their 2.5 to 3 year old daughter watching a game, nonchalantly, with the daughter sucking on the dads finger deep in her mouth as she awkwardly stared at me as I uncomfortably tried not to look. Somehow, it was as if I was the weirdo. I definitely peeped the pedo in me because I was disgustingly turned on.

Go Dodgers!

on the whole itll make the races better at the end of the season...more scenarios and scoreboard watching in line.

and again now you really need to win your division to avoid the play-in game.

i would prefer 2 divisions and straight to the nlcs but obviously they are not going to magically eliminate 1 playoff round and all the money associated with it
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Then you should have been born 10 years earlier.  But since you weren't, I'll simply tell you that an LCS and WS playoff system kind of sucked.  Breaking up leagues into 3 divisions instead of just 2 and adding the single WC team was great.  Adding the play in game was just a terrible idea.

QB Eagles

A single game playoff is not natural to the game of baseball, a sport in which a great team wins 60% of the time and a godawful team wins 40% of the time. I can accept it for tie situations because you have to do something, but it's a terrible indicator of which team is more deserving and I don't like it being automatic every year. I put more faith in the outcome of a 162-game season, even with the unequal schedules and all that.

Usually I like innovation in sports, but not so much in baseball. Now we see teams get hot at the end of the year and win it all, whereas in the past it was much more important what you did over the course of the season vs. a single 15-game tear at the end. I understand the motivations and I'm sure the sport will continue to go in that direction to gin up more interest and collect more dollars, but more playoffs does cheapen what teams accomplish during the season.

I think the Europeans figured out the best way to get crappy teams to maintain interest down the stretch, with the evil genius of the promotion and relegation system. We'll never see that in a US sport but a man can dream.

Mildly interesting fact I just learned on the MLB network (showing the NESN Red Sox-Arizona broadcast):  Jake Peavy is legally blind without corrective lenses (20/300 without, 20/40 with).

Rome

No chance he accepts that suspension.   He'd be 40 years old when he comes back in 2015.   They should stop being sanctimonious twats and suspend him for 50 games like everyone else, including Ryan Braun.

QB Eagles

They have to suspend roid for significantly longer than the others because he supposedly tried to farg with the investigation. Otherwise everyone being investigated would have a strong incentive to destroy documents and tamper with witnesses.

Rome

Allegedly attempted.  Since when is MLB judge, jury and executioner?

I mean screw MLB and A-Roid too, but still...

1.  Since forever.

2.  They've been negotiating with Arod for like a farging week now on what his punishment will be, which is actually the exact opposite of being judge, jury & executioner.  Selig is actually being "generous" by having these negotiations in the first place.  He could just slap him with a lifetime ban and be done with it since he'd be the one reviewing the appeal.
