Don Ho

I'm sure this will come as no surprise to anyone on this board:

QuoteThe Phillies are dead last in baseball with a 38 percent success rate when batting with runners on third and less than two outs. They have batted 117 times with that situation and only 45 have yielded a run in some way, whether it be via a hit, groundout or sacrifice fly.

That is the worst rate for any team since at least 1948.

Situation that.

Well Don, I'm shocked. I mean they fired Milt Thompson awhile back for The Guru Greg Gross. And surely he would emphasize situational hitting, right?

Grit starts his rehab tomorrow.

Don Ho

Milt Thompson was the first person I thought of.  Hopefully he's giving the double middle finger salute to Heir Smugness.

Ruben Amaro is God.

besides the asinine choke contract play armchair gm and tell me what he was supposed to do to make them good this year

maybe at some point down the line you realize they never had a shot. you want lee. you want halladay. you wanted pence. you wanted oswalt. you didnt want to pay werth.

this is what you get.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

that wouldnt make a god damn difference in the world. they would still suck. maybe they wouldnt be an abortion, but theyd be in the least mediocre.

for the 1000th time please understand that this thing is over and was over after the choke job last year in the nlds. they gave it a shot, it didnt work, you take your lumps and you move on.

right now its basically 1999. we are on training camp countdown, just like the good ol days of greg jefferies and mark portugal.

Me too.  My overly optimistic view of them in the beginning of the season was that they'd be a .500 team until Grit and Choke came back and would be in position to make a 2nd half surge.  I guess that's what they did for the first 2 months, but they simply aren't good enough to even sustain mediocrity for more than 60 days.  And when you add in Lee and Doc injuries, it's just a recipe for disaster.  Meh, whatever.  It was a good run.  Sad thing about it though is it should have been a great run.
