I've seen this mentioned a few times but nothing confirmed...but apparently he was on his way home the morning of 9/11 and ignored the all hands on deck call to return after the planes struck.

Diomedes

Yeah, that's not the kind of thing I would accuse someone of, or pass along as a rumor.  If it's true, it's a heavy weight to carry and holy crap I'm no saint either.

PhillyPhreak54

Yeah really - I saw it on a Jets board a few years ago and then again recently on another site so I don't know how true that is but that would indeed be a heavy thing to carry around

MDS

it doesnt take away from the fact that hes an awful person and needs to die
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Diomedes

Sure, sure.  But so do you.  It just goes without saying.

The Raiders will be releasing Rolando McClain today.  Taken 5 picks ahead of Graham two years ago and was supposed to be a stud LB in the NFL, so I dunno if playing in zesty Oakland got to him or what

QB Eagles

He's been garbage on and off the field. McClain's only chance to turn around his career is for him to end up somewhere with good coaches who can have a crack at resurrecting the ability he had in college. If he ends up on a team that fits that description I think he still has more of a career than Brandon Graham.

He ended up not being released (yet).

PhillyPhreak54

So he will end up in New England, SF or NYG

If Lane Kiffin is going to survive at USC, he'll have to do it without the help of his father.

The school has announced via Twitter that Monte Kiffin will be leaving the Trojans after the team's bowl game to pursue opportunities in the NFL.

Previously, the elder Kiffin's name had been floated as a possible candidate for a consulting job in Seattle, given his connection to Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.

But we're more intrigued by the possibility that Kiffin could be reunited Jon Gruden.  With Kiffin running the defense and Gruden running the offense, the Bucs won a Super Bowl 10 years ago.  Kiffin then remained with Gruden for six more years, even though Gruden had inherited Kiffin from Tony Dungy's staff.

Kiffin, 72, may not want to be a defensive coordinator at the NFL level again.  But the man who spent 25 seasons as an NFL assistant coach definitely brings something to the table.

Chiefs ILB Jovan Belcher pulled a murder-suicide this morning. Shot his girlfriend at a house, and then drove to Arrowhead and finished himself off there.
