Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Stopping short of ruling out an eventual return to the major leagues, seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens vows to have fun in his return to the mound Saturday night with the Sugar Land Skeeters.

In his first major press availability since he spoke immediately after he was acquitted of perjury charges in June, the Rocket was jovial and even smiled when a local radio station brought up his AARP eligibility and the potential of a hip injury.

"I'm going out there to have fun, try and stay healthy and see where it goes," Clemens, 50, said. "I'm not going to be too far away from the game of baseball."

Clemens, who hasn't pitched competitively since 2007 with the New York Yankees, admittedly isn't quite ready for the big time.

"I wouldn't consider myself anywhere close to major-league ready," said the former Astros, Yankees, Red Sox and Blue Jays star. He added, "I'm nowhere near where I was five years ago or the amount of work I went into it."

The Skeeters' Constellation Field is a far cry from Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Minute Maid Park or the other major-league stadiums Clemens packed during his legendary career.

The Rocket, though, is still a popular figure in his adopted hometown.

And for Sugar Land, a diverse Houston suburb of about 85,000, the Rocket's outing Saturday night against Bridgeport promises to be a major event.

"This is really huge for us," said Sugar Land City Councilwoman Amy Mitchell. "This takes it to a whole new level. ... The Houston region didn't get the Space Shuttle, but we got the Rocket."

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

GO AWAY ROGER. Holy shtein, what a farging ego this guy has that he thinks people will actually spend their hard-earned money to watch a washed-up, cheating farging has-been.

farg you Roger Clemens, you dirty, dirty piece of Texas shtein.

Sgt PSN

I guarantee you that Texans will still flock to the minor league parks to see him pitch.  And they'll cheer.  Loud.

DH

That's because Texans are idiots. Sorry Jay.

Bartolo Colon out 50 games now as well. 2 players within a week suspended for high testosterone counts. 1 plays in San Fran, the other in Oakland.  Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

QuoteCHICAGO -- It wasn't exactly Billy Martin and the Marshmallow Salesman, but it was probably as close as the normally mild-mannered Joe Girardi will ever get.

As the Yankees manager was about to begin his postgame news conference, the booming voice of an oversized, and possibly overserved, Chicago White Sox fan echoed through the concrete hallway beneath U.S. Cellular Field.

"Hey, Girardi, you bum! The Yankees suck!"

Because suddenly, there was Girardi breaking out of the pack, leaving a YES Network camera crew shooting his back and a gang of reporters watching in bemused disbelief, and shouting at the top of his lungs at a total stranger on his way out of the ballpark.

"Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Shut up! I'm doing an interview!" he said.

Then Girardi turned to a stadium security guard. "Do something, would you? Shut this guy up." "Yeah, kick me out!" the fan said, laughing as he headed out the door.

"Jesus, for crying out loud," Girardi muttered as he headed back into the media scrum.
