There's a connection I'm not making here, so I'll just go ahead and ask.  Why?

J's a big Favre fan and thinks #4 should be universally retired in his honor among the 4 major sports and possibly soccer.

Rome

Did anyone else catch Texeira getting plunked and then having a hissy fit over it last night?

Too funny.

Texiera looked funny when he got all bent.

As for Drabek wearing #4....no reason other than I don't like pitchers wearing single digit numbers. Looks weird to me. Yes I know it makes no sense and is stupid.

A simple form of realignment being seriously considered has been raised in the labor talks between Major League Baseball and the players' association, according to four sources: two leagues of 15 teams, rather than the current structure of 16 teams in the National League and 14 in the American League.

According to a highly ranked executive, one consideration that has been raised in ownership committee meetings is eliminating the divisions altogether, so that 15 AL and 15 NL teams would vie for five playoff spots within each league. Currently, Major League Baseball has six divisions.

A source who has been briefed on the specifics of the labor discussions says that the players' union has indicated that it is open to the idea of two 15-team leagues, but that the whole plan still hasn't been talked through or presented to the owners.

"I'd still say the odds of it happening are less than 50-50," one source said.

A sticking point involves interleague play. Because of the odd number of teams in each league, it is possible that a team in contention late in the season will have to be playing its final games in interleague play.

One of the biggest issues that would have to be resolved in any realignment resulting in two 15-team leagues is which of the National League teams would switch to the American League.

Two highly ranked executives believe the Houston Astros would be a possibility, because a switch to the AL for Houston would foster a rivalry between the Astros and the Texas Rangers.

"There are still a lot of details that would have to be discussed," one source said.

I still don't understand why the Brewers ever moved from the AL.  They're the ones farging it up.  Even out the 2 leagues and it would be a nearly perfect system imo.

I don't like the idea of adding more playoff teams unless they plan on cutting about 20 reg season games.  Otherwise, adding more playoff teams would only dilute and already diluted regular season.

Inter-league play needs to stay in the middle of the season.

they arent farging anything up. there has to be an even amount of teams in each league and for whatever reason (selig being a loser, brewers wanting 3 home series against the cubs) milwaukee was chosen. at that time both the rays and dbacks came into the league, causing the change.

the proposed 5th playoff team would play the 4th seed in a real quick 1 or 3 game series, probably over the weekend (season ends on a wednesday now). by monday the division series would start. so it would pretty much keep things on the current schedule.

im not sure if im a fan of this, though. i dont mind the extra playoff team, but eliminating divisions and going to 15 team leagues? with interleague all the time, including the last day of the season? i dont know. this would never happen but if they go to the EPSL style of moving teams up and down a lower level (like to AAA), and you go with maybe 10 teams per league, id love that. but with the this structure the phillies could play the dbacks as many times as they play the mets and also play the royals in the last series of the year. that is just stupid.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

That's the thing....a 1 game playoff or a 3 game series is stupid.  Anything less than 5 games is for the WNBA.

more playoff teams in baseball would basically destroy the sport...other than that its a great idea

i dont like doing 5 if you go to a 15-teamer

if you do 5 under the current set up you basically make it a play-in game for the wild card spot, which is kind of fun. some years it could be silly when a 86 win team plays a 94 win team, but some years youll get two 90 win teams. that would be fun times.

If I am remembering correctly, originally Kansas City was going to be the team to switch (or the one MLB wanted to switch).  When KC ultimately rejected a move, the Brewers volunteered to move.  I believe Selig still owned them at the time.
