That last pitch is a typical MLB umpiring embarrassment.  It was so far outside even Polanco flipped his shtein after the call, and he doesn't ever argue.

Jerry Layne was like that pig Kevin Millwood was in Miami when he sat on a bench in the on deck circle...wanted to be anywhere but on the field.

Awful call.

A game of close calls with MAAAyberry getting thrown out at home and HOF Brown getting robbed by Laynce Nix (sounds like a farging boy band member).

Oswalt on being lifted for a pinch hitter:

"That's their decision. He's the manager of the team. I don't question too much of that, but that's the first time I've been taken out at 79 pitches," Oswalt said. "We'll see how it goes."

Manuel noted that it was hot, and a lot of Oswalt's pitches were borderline. It was Oswalt's fourth start since missing three weeks with a lower back injury. He hasn't won since April 21.

I thought he pitched fine.  Had to pull him to get HOF to the plate who almost pulled it off.  I'm starting to believe in Brown.  He's been swinging the bat well.  Stutes looked really good.

Jonathan Singleton was moved back to 1B to help him relax at the plate, so the LF experiment is over for now (and he returns to being blocked by choke)
