Howie Roseman announced that Brian Dawkins got a promotion after being named a scout 3 weeks ago. Now Football Operations Executive.

Is this really a promotion, or more like "instead of doing actual scouting, just walk around and be Brian Dawkins"?

thankfully it's basically an au pair position for cranial lumps....thank god it has nothing to do with actual football stuff...it was bad enough when he was a low level scout

because its would be nepotism at its worst...if another organization hired him as a entry level scout and he wanted to put in the miles and hours id give him the benefit of the doubt...but 99.9% of great athletes are horrible evaluators of talent and the eagles were clearly giving him the job because of his name...it only took the eagles themselves less than two weeks to figure this out and put hm in the proper role as babysitter

at least that move would have no effect on wins and losses...putting an incompetent dawkins in the front office to evaluate PP would be a disgrace...but you make an important point on a macro level in that doing this for dawkins would have fit into a larger narrative of how lurie is running the organization in a stupid way...making andy a first time GM....keeping andy too long....hiring andys son...promoting howie...hiring andy pool boy pederson as head coach...bringing back howie etc

by all accounts dawkins in now in a hand holding role which is fine and where he should be....putting him in any kind of meaningful PP role in the front office right away would be dumb as shtein...but if he wants to leave his family and spend nine months of his year watching film on his laptop in a motel 6 by all means knock yourself out brian...thing is 45 year old multi million dollar famous ex athlete family men normally dont want to do that at this stage of their lives...shtein they dont even want to spend an 8 hour day doing it at novacare...its tedious painstaking work that not many  people are built or prepared for and of the people who are it would almost never include a rich world class ex athlete
