That's the rub, though.  How do you franchise him for 20 million and still be able to give him an offensive line, a wide receiver, etc. all in the same offseason?

Cap went up for one. They could sign a guard, pretty much anythings an upgrade. Draft one as well...a guy that can move out to tackle once Peters days are over. They have two 3rds and two 5ths, so they can move up if there's a WR they like. They can also trade back into the 20's and pick up a 2nd.

This is where you see if Howie knows what the farg he's doing. He should have more motivation than anyone on the planet...if he can put a successful roster together he can rub it in Chips fat farging face.

you only franchise him if you intend to then sign him long term

17-20 mil a year is the going rate for a top 10-15 ish qb...it just is...and with today's cap plus the cap in the near future going up and up its easily doable....but the Eagles aren't and shouldn't be expecting to do it all this offseason hence the long term deal for Bradford

the million dollar question is do they like him enough to do that...it shouldn't come down to a money issue it should be a do you think he's good enough issue

am i the only one who wants to franchise him?

i know 20 mil is a ton but im apprehensive about long terming him and there aint shtein else out there

They almost have to. I don't want them to franchise him because I think he's the greatest, but I just kind of want them to because he's by far the best QB in town.  Unless the plan is to tank for the #1 pick in 2017, in which case they should definitely start Sanchez.

QB Eagles

Evans would be an upgrade but so would 100 guys who don't command a vet salary.

If they brought in vet guards, it wouldn't surprise me if they cut JP and drafted an OT in the first round. I don't see the overall amount spent on the OL vastly increasing, and keep in mind that Lane already got his payday.

2 seasons max. And he was released by the Saints for not taking a paycut so he's not going to be a bargain basement guy.

I don't think hes going to get the big check he & his agent thinks is out there. Maybe im wrong but if that proves to be right a three year deal wouldn't be bad.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
