The team isn't good enough to just say "we're close, go with Vick".

I got a 100 spot that says that is exactly what Reid said at the round table before making this decision after watching the rest of the NFC east collapse this weekend

It could be.  Like I said earlier, the rest of the NFC is hot garbage.  I just don't think the Eagles are any good either.

agree....its all about entertainment purposes. has been since vick stepped foot out of jail and back on to the turf

Eagles_Legendz

Yep and that's where I have an issue with myself.  Rationally, I think sticking with Kolb makes more sense, at least for another game.  I can't say watching Vick isn't far more entertaining though.

You run out Vick.  If he plays well you re-sign him.  If not, you draft a QB in the 1st round.

and hour and a half ago you would have said you run out cobb no matter how good vick has been to see what youve got....but now cobb is done for good in philly?

it wouldnt surprise me in the least if vick is zesty and they lose to jacksonville cobb starts vs the skins...vick was a pubic hair away from three or four turnovers in the detroit game and hes probably due for one of those games where he tosses a couple bad picks and has a fumble or two

with the coach and the front office on such different pages there no way to predict or make definitive statements about anything at this point

igy gettin it done like warrick

This is one thing that I actually believe Reid on for once.  He said Vick is just playing too well.  Not to mention I don't think the Eagles with win with Kolb or McNabb last week.  There oline is brutal in pass protection.

I have to say Vick does look better as a passer than he ever has.  This makes for an interesting questions leading into the future.  Does Vick get a new contract and Kolb shipped?

I pretty much assume this is for the season.  Reid doesn't seem like a coach that will keep flipping QBs.  He also probably didn't want to lose the locker room.  Vick has played pretty damn good and at this point gives them the best opportunity to win.

This sums up my feelings as well. I don't think they realized what they had with Vick and he's played as good as could be expected. If Kolb doesn't get hurt and does what Vick's done the past 2 weeks we're not having this conversation. Vick's only 4 years older and missed 2 years of his prime, so he's like a sub-30 year old QB. This move especially makes sense with the current climate of the NFC East, why wait and see what you have with Kolb when you already know what you have with Vick. I'm %100 in agreement with everything Reid has done with this, and I hate the fat farger.

The only disagreement I have is him coming out and saying Kolb is his starter, unless it was a little gamesmanship on his part.  Though I doubt he is that smart.

Ok, let me clarify, *that is what I would do.

At this point, after trading McNabb in the division, signing Vick, announcing Kolb as the starter and 24 hours later making it Vick, I have no farging clue what the Eagles ultimately will do.  I don't see how you can go back to Kolb, not because of what I think of him, but because of this situation.  Doesn't mean they won't.

I didn't imagine they'd go with Vick again, but lo and behold.  Who fargin' knows what these jokers are thinking.

what i can't figure is what did reid say to kolb when he made up his mind (or it was made up for him)?

i mean... "you're my guy, you're my guy, you're my g... uh, vick's starting from here out.  sorry kid."

going to vick was the hard part....going back to cobb is nothing...cobb is the future after all and vick is a free agent

it wasnt gamesmenship....he said cobb was his man...and not just right after the game in some sort of kneejerk reaction...not that andy has EVER had a kneejerk reaction as its just not him...but he also more than a day later was still saying it...then he gets called into the office with howie and vick is suddenly the starter....it couldnt be more clear what happened

I give Reid credit on this one.  Vick definitely gives this team the best chance to win right now.  That said I would think that he wouldn't even consider this unless he has some designs on signing Vick long-term.  Hey, it's been entertaining if nothing else.

MDS

howie traded 5 to go with kolb

now he throws the hammer down on kolb to go with vick

so howie is kneejerk and irrational?

howie is banner and banner runs the show

though im not sure how relenting of power andy is on decisions like this that have nothing to do with the front office. i can see roseman sending memos and calling meetings but i just dont by andy being a yes man to upstairs on these kinds of calls.

though it is strange that he, for the first time ever, went against his word like 12 hours later. it doesnt make any sense and goes against everything weve come to believe about andy.
