I hope it doesn't come to this:

Dobbs, catcher Paul Hoover and pitchers Danys Baez, David Herndon and Jamie Moyer will travel with the club.

i love the insight into audio splicing on the 950 website that intern mario gives us

next stop, brownsville!

send me some of your work and I'll have Gonzo look it over

Todd's best work can be found lining the bottom of a bird cage.

google my name like ff does every 5 seconds. youll find it.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I guess it would be difficult for someone like you to have an underinflated ego, but you should at least try to keep it hovering near reality.

This isn't a rip (although you deserve it) but you couldn't find a Journalism job covering High School sports in this area? Gonzo got his start covering girls High School basketball (he used to work with MLBs Todd Zolecki), so everyone has to get their start somewhere.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Yeah, he had multiple offers in the Philly area, but north Mexico was too awesome to pass up.

if newspapers werent dead gonzo couldnt sniff a job as a real journalist...its more of a comment on the state of newspapers than it is gonzo and hes no worse than a lot of the bums papers employ these days but lets not pretend he isnt complete dreck...the lil guy has zero future as a journalist but he could easily write gonzos column and probably better (provided he had the best editor in the country)....its sad what newspapers have come to...

newspapers have been going downhill for 20 years, idiot

smaller, community-based papers are always gonna be around because people wont be able to get that information anywhere else (like now, enough people genuinely care about valley high school sports and specifically football and will always care...someone will always need to write on it)

big papers should stick for at least a little bit because of stubborn companies refusing to come to reality

but when push comes to shove whether its a paper, magazine or internet site people are always gonna need and want to know what happened at games. im not the next woodward or bernstein, clearly. im not even the next gonzo. but i know i can adequately cover games and something like a high school football beat. there is always a "career" in that. i enjoy doing it. hopefully sooner rather than later i can find myself doing it in so cal or something close to it (i like warm weather and i think im gonna stick to that...sorry?).

but im also a whore for money so if there is a better paying job in fargo id probably take it.

the problem is because big newspapers are dead you have fewer and fewer good writers going to work for them so you get community paper quality writers like gonzo working for big papers

not arguing that

but thats not my problem nor do i care. cause i will never be a big city writer or columnist.

its more on the misguided attempt by out of touch editors trying to appeal to younger demos and the "internet" crowd. though to gonzos credit, he does what any good columnist is supposed to do--elicit reaction.

lol...he doesnt get credit for doing that....anyone can write anything and get a reaction....the hard part is to write well and interestingly and get a reaction

im not joking when i say you could write as good or a better column than him

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

PhillyPhreak54

Yeah, I am not a fan of Gonzo's stuff.
