2010 Winter Olympics

Watching the chick crash immediately after leaving the gate had the ladyfriend and I rolling for a good 10 minutes last night.

I can't seem to find a clip of it anywhere. If anyone finds it please post. Watching an Olympic level skier fall on her face within 3 seconds of starting her run was some good shtein.

the winter olympics are horrendous

I caught maybe one glimpse of it and it was the half-pipe--not because I even care about snowboarding but I enjoy the flips and shtein

but these other events..cmon now. yaaaay...you can ski fast down a hill, hit a double axel to josh groban, skate in a mini circle on over-sized blades, throw 3 guys in a sled and tell them to duck...and best of all brushing ice the fastest with a broomstick and getting excited about it...christ

You're a complete idiot if you think downhill skiing is bogus.  And ice skating as well.

i can certainly understand people not having an interest in skiing or ice skating, however when it comes to the winter olympics, they are probably the 2 most legit sports in the entire winter games as both require insane amounts of coordination, balance, strength and endurance.   

colin cowherd made a great point the other morning on his show and said that most of the winter games are about money and science and many of the sports rely too much on equipment rather than athletic ability for overall success.  that's why you don't see poor(er) countries (african, jamacan, etc) succeeding alot in the winter games.  it's not just because their climate doesn't provide adequate training conditions, but they also don't have the money to spend on all of the equipment needed to compete in winter events.

That chick that won the silver yesterday in the women's downhill, Julia Mancuso, went to elementary school on Kauai and spends the off season on Maui.  All makes sense now.  Go Daddy!

Julia grew up in Lake Tahoe as the middle of three sisters, between older sister April and younger sister Sara. When she was five, her father, real estate developer Ciro Mancuso, was arrested and convicted of running a $140 million marijuana smuggling operation.[1] Her parents subsequently divorced in 1992, and her mother said that Julia "took everything out on the slopes."[1]

I think my wife has relatives on Kauai that have smoked $140M worth of pot since 1992.
