They looked slow and confused out there. It really was like a completely different team and yet they somehow still put away four goals. If these fargers had a farging goalie fargity farg farg farg.
usually i agree times infinity but tonight the d was as much to blame as either of the goalies

The BIGSTUD

Goalie shmoalie(badass sounding, eh?)

You have supposed studs like Luongo coming up incredibly small and Niemi let up 4 goals all legit(unlike Leighton's). Leighton has played as good as anyone overall in the playoffs so you can't kill him. The supposed better goalies are all sitting at home right now, so that goalie thing doesn't really hold any water right now.

The defense was far more to blame and the overall quickness to the puck. shtein man, the Flyers had the puck in the Chicago zone for a total of like 20 seconds at the 10 minute mark of the 1st.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

They looked so bad i wanted a timeout after the first goal.  First time they've looked like that, but they got it under control.

Oh that'll cheer us up.

you can assassinate him.  i'm ok with it.

Munson

Yeah Leighton's 3 goals were....IDK, hard to blame on him. The 3rd one was definitely his usual easy one, but he made some very sick saves and the puck took some very unfortunate bounces/deflections on the first two goals. Like I pointed out earlier, that first goal off of Pronger was the 3rd goal in the last 3 games that a Flyer has redirected in.

Hopefully they can pull it out in game 6, but i've been expecting them to lose all along so...

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

chicago is playing at a completely different speed than the flyers...its like the flyers thought it was gonna be like it was in philly....you have to know the hawks are going to come out like maniacs at home and the flyers simply werent prepared for it

Maybe it's the beer talking but the Flyers are making a comeback in this game. Final score 5-4 Flyers.

haha

i thought Laviolette panicked by pulling Leighton, he wasn't playing that bad, and Boucher sucks, especially coming in cold.  i think he should have ridden him there and seen what happened.  it couldn't have been worse than that really did happen.

yeah, i dont think Leighton was all that bad, i think he was pulled as a wakeup to the rest of the team again.  Tickets are going much cheaper, i'm gonna wait it out now, they're down around 500 a piece for uppers.

Also, Sportsrise said that there were 7 skaters on the ice for the Versteeg goal in the 1st period.  Good stuff

I couldn't agree more. Leighton hasn't exactly been stellar in this series but he is farging miles better than Boucher. There was no reason to pull him.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

That was contigent on Leighton staying in goal to start the second

SunMo

i think it was contingent on more beer

Plus/minus is the most overrated stat in sports. Who gives a shtein about plus minus?

It's for people who don't know what they are watching so they think they can look at a stat and get a summary on how someone played.

no the cliche that plus minus is overrated is overrated....if everyone in the world says its the most overrated stat in sports then how is it overrated...the answer is its not...it also doesnt speak precisely on how someone played but when you are minus 5 in a game you def were horrible...stop being a simpleton and looking at everything black n white

i dont think he pulled him to provide a spark in hopes of a comeback...or punish him because he was playing hideous...quite the opposite...i think he did it to protect him and not have him be ravaged mentally for game 6 by giving up a gang of goals...laviolette knew the team was flat and that they were gonna get run so let boucher come in and give up a bunch of goals to show that it wasnt leighton...

leighton is good enough to get his body in the right position to stop pucks that he can see...but he is not a very good goalie and if the team in front of him isnt playing lights out (especially pronger) then leighton sucks..its just the way this team is...they play mistake free defensive hockey and keep the front of their net clear and they win...if they play loosey goosey in their own end they are done because they dont have a goalie that can win a game for them and last night within the first ten minutes they had at least five defensive zone turnovers...its one thing if they had survived that and only given up a goal in the first but down 3-0 after one and playing the way they were it was over and there was no reason to keep leighton out there...keep him in tact for wed.
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

SD

I agree with the exact opposite of all of this^^^^
