The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

so youre telling me if youre at a happy hour...a public setting...and you tell a coworker that your company is retarded that its acceptable to fire someone...maybe in the third reich not in america

Do you stretch every morning so you can reach that far?

Posting something in facebook is public domain and can be considered as published slander.

And yes, if I was at a bar, and clients were there, and I was blasting my firm, I'd be fired.

Ditto this whole post.

Me three!!1

For the record, I was saying it was chicken-shtein when I was fired over the phone.

I don't blame the Eagles for firing this ass.  It's called a life lesson.  Don't be stupid or call your employer retarded on the Internet.  Unless you're IGY and indispensable.

It was a rash, stupid thing to do, and Leone regretted it almost instantly.

"I shouldn't have put it up there," Leone said. "I was ticked off, and I let my emotions go, but I didn't offend any one person or target a specific individual. I was just upset that we lost such a great guy. Dawkins was one of my favorite players. I made a mistake."

Less than two days after posting the Dawkins remarks, Leone said, he was contacted by Leonard Bonacci, the team's director of event operations. According to Leone, Bonacci said they needed to talk about Leone's Facebook page, and Leone agreed. Leone - who deleted the comment - figured that the two would sit down and that he could apologize to Bonacci in person. But Leone said Bonacci never got back to him after that.

Two days later, Leone said, he received a call from Rachel Vitagliano, the team's guest services manager. Leone said she fired him over the phone. The conversation lasted less than 10 minutes.

In the Navy you're allowed to bash the Navy as long as you're not on watch in the vicinity of the general public or a commissioned officer. They could give two shteins what you write about them on the internet. I could see the Eagles getting pissed off if one of their execs. wrote something like that but for a guying that's pulling minimum wage and was very good at his job to be fired while he's off duty is beyond stupid. This offseasons starting with the usual McNabb whinefest, then Dawk, then Banner on Eskin, the protesters outside Lurie's mansion and now this, has been a public relations disaster. They should get their shtein together and fast. Lurie's done a good job of shedding the cheap label and seperating himself from Braman, all this shtein is bringing back bad memories.

When every move you make is fodder for public opinion, any term can be fraught with PR peril. One doesn't go out of their way to antagonize the public when revenue from both their discretionary income and their taxes is in play.

If it indeed did go down the way it is related, the FO should be made to squirm - especially given an employee who will engender amplified sympathy vis a vis disability. There are better ways that they could have handled it and to suggest otherwise show no understanding of the business of public relations.

Hubris. Arrogance. Unwavering conviction of being right. Worked out so well for the last administration, didn't it?
Endless regression to the mean

The Eagles have learned from history (ours, Hitlers, Soviets, Chinas governments) that if you crush all dissenters your opinion wins:sly

My textbook on leadership calls this "coercive" authority.

Needless to say, it is not indicative of a gold standard.

Oh for crying out loud, its on ESPN.com and they're talkign about it on channel 10 right now.

HUUUUGE  ::) ::) ::)

If ANY of the clowns discussing this on the air right now did the same thing this guy did about THEIR employer, they'd be toast too.

Attention whores. All of them.

Its still bad PR and they went about it the wrong way.

This organization takes itself too seriously some times. What happened to a phone call saying "Hey, come on man. Get that shtein off your Facebook".

What I want to know is how they found out about it. Because I can totally see them having someone responsible for monitoring employees on-line accounts; that reeks of The Eagle Way.
