the reason those games were so good yesterday is because theres no playoff...osu usc essentially was a playoff game in week 2...that simply doesnt happen in any other sport...yes technically osu could still make the championship game but most likely not...

if you have a playoff that game means nothing cause ohio state wins the big ten and gets in it

anyone of those three games usc/osu - sc/ga - mich/penn state will be better than whatever the best nfl game is this year and that includes the playoffs

There are dozens of games in the lower divisions of CFB that match the intensity of those games played yesterday.  That doesn't diminish the playoff games played afterward, dookie.

The last sentence you wrote is just plain silly, though.   I guess you started drinking early today?

MDS

the games will be better but in the end the champion is always a fraud. cant buy into that stuff.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

there were 62 games played this weekend and 2 were worth watching.   usc/osu and mich/nd.  mich/nd likely had no championship at stake but it was still a big game for both schools.  usc/osu were both putting their title chances on the line with this game.  so that's 1 game out of 62 that really had any type of appeal to it.  do you really think that 1 great game in week 2 means that the college system is not totally farged?  because i would argue quite the contrary.

there are 2 possible scenerios to fix it.  first is a playoff, which i won't go into because i know you don't like it and i doubt i'll say anything that hasn't already been said either by me or someone else.

so what the ncaa needs to do is fix the scheduling process.  not sure why they allow schools to set up their own schedules, but imo, that's farging rediculous and the exact reason why in week 2 you only have 1 game with 2 power house schools going at it and the other 61 games are the likes of florida vs troy or oklahoma vs idaho state.

the non-conference schedules these teams put together is rediculous and the first 2 weeks of the college season are about the 2 most boring weeks in any sport.

what the ncaa needs to do is set up a rotating schedule like the nfl or mlb has when it comes to playing out of conference games.  ie: afc north vs nfc north this year and afc north vs nfc east next and so on and so on.

if you really want to make college football meaningful every week, then make the sec play the pac 10 and make the big 10 play the big 12, etc, etc and just rotate it it every year.  then you're going to get some powerhouse schools matching up against each other all year long.

actually there were way more games than that that were watchable and great....you just dont like college football and thats cool

i personally dont think there were ANY pro football games i could have done without this week (other than the eagles of course but it certainly wasnt a great game)

it's not that i don't like college football.  football is football, so it's all good.  i just don't put much stock in it because the bowl system is farged and national championship game is suspect almost every single year.

the houston (all hail kevin kolb) vs oklahoma st game was sick.  i mostly watched that while occasionally flipping through a couple other games. osu/usc was great.  nd/mich was great.  didn't see ucla/tenn but it was a 4 pt game so i assume it was at least decent.  other than that, damn near every game was decided by no less than 2 td's and only 2 teams in the top 25 played each other.  that's my biggest problem with college fb.....too much top tier teams blowing out scrub teams during the first couple of weeks and not enough games between teams that should be about even with each other.

that's why i like pete carroll and jim tressel.  both of those guys will pretty much schedule anyone, anywhere, anytime and aren't afraid of putting it on the line early in the year.

well no doubt there is a monster gap in the best teams and the worst in college football....thats why my girl doesnt like it...she cant handle cincy having 50 pts at half time yesterday....thinks is utterly ridiculius

but that stuff is going to happen when you have over 100 teams...however its more than made up for by the top games

i know every game isn't going to be even but i can't see how it would be a bad thing to schedule more marquee matchups like usc/osu earlier in the season.  out of 62 games, to only have maybe 5 end up being worth watching at the end isn't too enticing imo.
