I work with a ton of Tennessee alums, so today's going to be a lot of fun.

Although this is the third time that Lane Kiffin has been hired with a lot of fanfare, and I have yet to see any evidence that he's actually a good head coach.

pete carroll isnt a good head coach...he was basically a glorified cheerleader who surrounded himself with very good coaches...he was a great recruiter and master motivator...in other words hes basically lane kiffen...which is why usc went in this direction because its not really a change

basically anyone can win titles at usc (provided they arent on any sort of probation)

they're still investigating the reggie bush thing so it's possible (but unlikely at this point) that probation could still a potential outcome. 

agree about carroll but i believe he's going to take several key members of his usc staff with him.  you really don't need to be a great recruiter to get kids to come to usc because usc sells itself.  great education, great campus, great location, great weather, etc,etc.  however, seeing what's transpired with kiffen over the last 2 years between that mess in oakland and his antics when he first joined tennessee and now this, i just think dude's a bit of a drama queen and for lack of a better word....immature. and that's why i think he'll flame out there.  he won't go 4-8 or anything but i don't see any national championships in his future either.

A bunch of UT's commits left school last night and the Kiffins and Orgeron contacted all of them to tell them they'd have spots at USC if they went west.  Why should these kids trust these guys at this point?

kiffen isnt getting a pro job and theres no better job in college...hes at usc for the forseeable future...certainly for the fours years this incoming class could stay for

because usc >>>>>> ut with or without kiffen.  they'll get more exposure at usc and will definitely run a more pro-style system.  plus, they won't be living in tenneessee.

I can't say I blame Kiffin or think he is a fleshpop for leaving.  USC is a step up and he is familiar with it.  Outside of UT fans I don't see how anyone can be pissed or care.

I don't really "care" but I thought Kiffin acted a fool last year after UT hired him and then he goes 7-6 on the year. Wow. And I also hate it when coaches bail on their team when you know that during the recruiting process they used words like "commitment" "loyalty" etc etc to lure the kid to their program in the first place. And its not like Kiffin had been with UT for 5+ years and won a lot of games for them and pushed through a few graduating classes. Dude was there 1 year. I don't fault the guy for wanting to coach the team he grew up with. I just think its bs that coaches can up and leave without penalty but if any of his recruits want to leave they lose a year of eligibility.
