Fixed a bug with the stats caused by the printing bit I added.
Added stat rank to the user list.  Sorry, can't sort by it yet.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

There are a lot of shut outs, a lot of extremely high football scores, and a lot of extremely high scoring shut outs.

I think the weight given to defense (and possibly STs) needs to be increased strongly.

Or something.

Also, I'm rocking a streak of 9, bitches.

And thanks for changing the thread name.  Y'all may think I'm a princess, but it was a good idea and you can all suck a fleshpop.

I think it was stated before....but if I train 1 vs training 5 at one shot...does it increase my odds of moving up that stat?

No, but before Cerevant fixed the bug, you'd get to multiply your increase if you rolled a 96 or higher on an early roll.

That's fixed now, so there's no advantage to rolling more than once.

Still, I think it's too "Socialist" a game.  Only a 5% chance to increase stats once you get to certain point is a bit overdone, but the flip-side is it seems that teams with even a slight statistical advantage are much, much more likely to win a game.... so, I don't know.

hbionic

I agree, it keeps the playing field level...so I'm for it...it will be cool once we all reach generally around the same stats....'cause lord knows there's no way I'm ever going to hit that elusive 5% in my rolls.

The problem is that defense is causing the shut-outs (lots of INTs).

Can people post the stat difference when they post their scores?  I'll code up something to capture the game logs, but until I do it will help me balance the game.

I think the real problem is that people are gaining in stats too quickly.  I either need to nerf the effect of the stats, or slow down the gains.

I think FC stays "fun" because you feel like you are doing something, when in reality you are (as my wife and I joked) just running to "push the button".  The very visible progress itself is the reward, while the effect (attacking) is almost an afterthought.

I think a football game would be more interesting if everyone had about the same number of stat points, with the distribution making it interesting.  Further I think play-calling is almost a necessity to make the games more interesting than just the final score.  I think this is where game money or some other resource might come in: allowing you to use a special at a critical point in the game.

Keep playing and keep giving feedback - creating a balanced rule set is not easy.  Even FC is pretty polarized (you either win or lose against an opponent, it is very rarely close).  If you keep playing, I'll keep working on it.

I've put up 98 but have yet to break 100.

I lost to hbionic this morning 3-0.  The risk/reward really isn't high enough to challenge people that you might actually lose to.

phattymatty

so i guess if you lose, but don't initiate the game, you don't lose your streak?

because you beat me yesterday but i still rock a 10 streak.
