Team names are generally plural... :D

The Stanford Cardinal, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Syracuse Orange and nearly every team from the WNBA and AFL say hi.

Cerevant

Stanford Cardinals, The Fighting Irish (plural), Syracuse Orangemen (plural).

The Sparks, The Rush, the Dream, The sky.

Every team name I can think of is/can be preceded by "The" and uses a plural verb.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Stanford Cardinal

Syracuse Orange

Cuse changed from the Orangemen to the Orange a couple years ago.

Fighting Irish isn't plural.  Irishmen would be.

Rush, Dream, Sky aren't plural either.  That would be Rushes, Dreams and Skies.  Being preceded by "the" doesn't make it so.   ;)

Cerevant

I think usage affects the abstract names - "The Rush play tomorrow" or "The Rush plays tomorrow"  *shrug*

Three choices:
1) Pick a farging plural name and like it
2) Giggle at the engrish
3) Write a function that parses an arbitrary string and returns whether or not it is plural.

You chose :)

I hate making decisions.  That's why I joined the military......don't have to pick out clothes to wear to work every day.

wow, this is really a discussion? lol

any plans yet for the Money or Experience?

Cerevant

Hm - I'll answer that over in the other thread.

I still cringe when I think about the fact that we could have eliminated them ourselves if we had dropped their most powerful members then declared war..oh well
