Just did two hits on 17's, and got exactly 0% experience combined.

Sucks.

Maybe you get less experience for using the golden gun

Need a hit to move up a level....Turdle or Sgt Superman.

Looking at the Mono Country source (the basis for FC), noting that the only stats are Strength, Guard, Agility, Labour, and IQ, here is how things are calculated:

QuoteProbability to hit = 50 * your agility / their agility with a max 95
Damage = Weapon Damage * your strength / their guard

So, I was somewhat wrong about damage.  The better the weapon, the wider range of damage you can do.  So the weapon does cap the damage you do, but you will do better average damage with a better weapon.

I think the only difference in FC is that to hit is calculated as your marksmanship or combat instead of your agility in the equation above.

Now, for training.  This is really farged up:
Quote
gain = rnd(1-3) * rnd(8-10)/rnd(8-10) * (will + 20) / 150

rnd(1-3) means a random number between 1 and 3.  rnd(8-10) means a random number between 8 and 10.  The net effect when multiplied by .8 (max will) is a random number between .64 and 3 with an unusual distribution.  Aside from the random numbers, you see that (as expected) your gain is directly proportional to your will.  Looks like FC bumped up the range for this, since the average per attempt is around 5.

One thing that is here is that your will is decreased for each iteration of training, as if you kept training 1 time over and over again.  In theory (if you were patient) you could get more training if you trained one point, then waited for your will to go back to 100, then repeat.  I'll do some crunching and see if there is an optimal number of training attempts.

Crimes are really lame - there is a percentage chance of succeeding at a crime that is independent of your stats.  I don't know if this is how they implemented IQ crimes or not.

So, the only new advice I see is to get the best weapon you can find, although if you are currently only doing 1 damage (minimum), changing your weapon is still not going to help.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Nah - I've had that gun for two or three days, and have had some experience go as high as 24%...

This just in.........

QuoteAlright folks, due to the rapidly increasing "leveling-up," I have lowered the amount of EXP you get from attacking and "leaving." From now on, you will receive a lot less EXP when you "leave" someone. If you attack someone lower level than you, you will get a fraction of EXP (though it will say 0%) and if you attack someone higher than you, you wont get the massive numbers like before. I know this wont be a popular change, but its the best way to keep a level playing field.

Thanks,
Jack Bauer

I'm curious as to how this makes it a level playing field.  Ok, so maybe the people at higher levels can't move up as quickly.  But neither can I.

I'd also like to know about attacking lower level people and the exp you get from that.  Because if you are within say 2 levels of a person, then it's realistically possible that you can win or lose against them.  Higher level doesn't always mean higher stats.  If you get much more than 2 or 3 levels above someone then it's pretty much a given that you'll probably beat them so I understand not getting as much exp for that.

Those earliest to the game are the most powerful as long as they keep putting the time in. No matter what gang we create or join we'll be at their mercy.

The game is very unbalanced.  I won't be buying another month of membership.

how does everybody feel about a Sundance and Butch Cassidy ending?

IN.

I have enjoyed some parts of this game very much, especially the CF gang aspect.  It's been fun to figure out how the thing works together and all that.

but I'm tired of it.  It's pretty fundamentally flawed..vast imbalance if you donate real world money, no chance to catch up, poor ability to communicate (I have no idea how any gang could function as well as ours without another mb on the side to use for discussion), etc.
