this thread is a train wreck...lets concentrate on $440,000 per catch over a two year period

I dont remember exactly and I am not going to search for it, but i am fairly certian that you thought that brandon lloyd was one of the better FA signings of that year.

I don't recall IGY being as much high on Lloyd as the skins' general "efforts" (i.e. overpaying mediocre players) to improve their team.

He was super-high on Randle-El, though.

^^^^^
that

i still like randel el...i just think the skins are always in such upheavel and clueless that they mis used him so bad...lloyd was an absolute trainwreck...but at least they went out and got him...better than having an entire offseason where the only guy you got was mike mcmahon

Totally worth it!

QuoteCollins stays in Washington

The Washington taterskins fought off the advances of Jacksonville, the New York Giants and the St. Louis Rams to keep backup quarterback Todd Collins.

Collins agreed to a three-year, $9 million deal to stay in Washington. Though the Giants and Rams made hard pushes after the 12:01 a.m. Friday morning opening of free agency, the Jaguars made the hardest push to pull Collins away from the taterskins.

The taterskins kept upping the offer to Collins and the Jaguars kept upping their offer. Collins, who studied all the backup quarterback numbers and met with head coach Jim Zorn Thursday in Quincy, Ma., found the market for him hotter than expected.

Collins not only won over his taterskins teammates by a late-season surge that led the taterskins to the playoffs, but he earned the respect of the league as a valuable backup. taterskins owner Dan Snyder did not want to lose him as a backup to Jason Campbell and stepped up in the end to make sure he stayed.

Rome

Absolutely hysterical.

Collins is a career backup and a hugely mediocre one at that, yet they're paying him $9M?

I'll bet Jason Campbell is thrilled.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Well, $3m a year really is not unreasonable for a solid backup QB.  I just don't even think Collins really is one.  His 2007 was an aberration, and he'll be a clipboard holder at best.  Plus, he's going to be 40 or so when the contract runs out.

Rome

I agree it's not unreasonable.  What I'm saying is Collins is suckitude personified and the taterskins spending that much for a zesty quarterback is retarded, even for them.
