The post that started this was obviously sarcasm on Munson's part.

It's hard to discern sometimes but he does occasionally make jokes that aren't completely hamfisted.

Thank god you picked up on it.
I was pretty much in shock at the two pages of stupidity you morons just went off on.

The very sarcastic point I was making was Sean Taylor was having his first true "Great" year when he was putting up career numbers and IGY retardedly called it a "HOF-type" year. Shockey is actually a perfect example, an overhyped overrated TE who put up GREAT numbers 1 year and now everyone thinks he's awesome. Thank god some of that hype died down.

I just threw Kevin Curtis in there because I knew it'd piss some of you fargtards off.

Anyways,  a guy who's having a "career year" isn't putting up "HOF-type numbers". He's putting up the best year of his career so far. Period.

congrats you just contributed the most ironically stupid post in the history of the internet

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

That actually made me laugh.  But not out loud.  You're not that funny.

Munson

But it did get an internal bubbling out of you. If it came out in the form of a fart I'll take that as a laugh-out-loud.

Alright, I have to comment on this. I have the perfect argument to prove that stats change from era to era.

Johnny Unitas. Although 10th on the all time passing list, he is by no means the tenth best that ever played.

Marino, 61,361
Favre, 60,475
Elway, 51,475
Warren Moon, 49,325
Fran Tarkenton,47,000
Vinny Testaverde, 45,908
Drew Bledsoe, 44,611
Dan Fouts, 43,040
Joe Montana, 40,551

There are one definate, maybe two qb's on that list that deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the man with 'The Golden Arm.'

At the time of his retirement, he held records for the most pass attempts (5,186), most completions (2,830), most total yards (40,239), most touchdowns (290), most 300-yard games (26), and most consecutive games throwing touchdown passes (47). He also had three seasons of 3000+ passing yards.

With the top qb's regularly going over 4,000 in a season, his 3 seasons of 3,000 yds. looks journyman like. Backup, clipboard holding type of numbers.  But anyone who knows football knows that if the man played today, especially with all the rules that have been made since his time to protect the position of qb, he would still be one of the best. Hell, he played 18 seasons, but the last were schooling another great qb, Dan Fouts. I have to think he'd have never left Baltimore if he wasn't so beat up and could have played another few very productive years.

Career Highlights
Player of the Year: 1959, 1964, 1967
NFL MVP: 1959, 1964, 1967
Player of the Decade: 1960s
Ten Pro-Bowl selections
Inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame: 1979
Named Greatest Player in the First 50 Years of Pro Football
Named to the NFL's 75th Anniversary Team

Championship Teams
1958 NFL Championship - Baltimore 23, NY Giants 17
1959 NFL Championship - Baltimore 31, NY Giants 16
Super Bowl V - Baltimore 16, Dallas 13

The Career Highlights give you a more accurate description of just how great a player he was.

As a kid who loved sports growing up on the Eastern Shore of Md., it's only now that I realize just how lucky I was to be able to have watched him play the second part of his career. He was the man amoung men. His level of play was 10 times greater than most qb's of his time. Just the way he dropped back and would pump fake, was like nothing the NFL had ever seen before. His passes were jaw droppers. High arching bombs that would hit the receiver right in the breadbasket almost every friggen' time. No one had ever seen anything like it before. His brashness and gambler like attitude opened the eyes of coaches, who started encorperating the pass more to score quicker.

Basically, what I'm saying is if you looked at his career stats next to todays qb's and had never watched football, you wouldn't have any idea what kind of player he was.

Oh Yeah, I'm really pointing and laughing at Washington, and the way it's like they're having a two week wake for Joe Gibbs. He retired, shut the farg up crying about it and get another coach.

It's a travesty that Todd Collins isn't on that list.

It is.  The Todd Collins has no gin in it and the club soda is flat.

You should all be shot in the femoral artery for gaying this thread up with dumb stats and meaningless arguments when there's still plenty to point and laugh at.

For example: gripes about 'refereeing' in the Seahawks game. Any normal fan that watched that game thought the Skins got the majority of the iffy calls. I thought the refs were somewhat purposely biased because of the whole femoral artery thing.
