and as long as the nfl contracts are miniscule compared to other sports while the leagues revenue stay incredibly high then yes the contracts should be guaranteed....guaranteed contracts havent hurt the other sports and if any sport deserves them its football...what i would do is something similar to the nhl where the players are guaranteed to get their money but injured players wouldnt hurt your cap number

Guaranteed contracts almost killed the NHL, and they keep teams in the dumps in the NBA for years. They don't hurt the MLB as much because there's no cap, and most teams stay away from the ones that could kill them.

Guaranteed contracts don't mix well with a salary cap.

Dear Jeff, Andy and Joe...

Please understand that you simply CANNOT afford to farg this up.  Please pay this man accordingly.  You have no idea of the shteinstorm that would come if this Westbrook situation turns sour.  PLEASE do not farg this up.  Pay Brian Westbrook.

Sincerely,
The rest of the world outside of the Eagles FO who realize how bad Westbrook is being farged.

Look at Feva, stealing a trick play from ES'ers by writing a letter to the front office on the internets.  I had several people on this board pegged as the type of people who would do such a thing.  You were not one of them.

Shows what I know.

Lito owns the Cowboys, that in itself makes him worth more

not if you have a special place in your heart for Dallas

McNabb Shut Down With Shoulder Tendinitis

Quarterback Donovan McNabb is out for today's Passing Camp practice and will most likely miss the remainder of the week due to a case of shoulder tendinitis. Head coach Andy Reid will address the media on the situation when practice concludes today.

McNabb admitted on Monday after his limited activity in practice that he had been experiencing some kind of discomfort when he was asked if he was worred about his arm and he replied, "No. I know it will get better."

Kevin Kolb, who took the majority of the repetitions during Monday's practice, will again work with the first-team offense in practices today through Thursday, when this June passing camp concludes.

McNabb had been the target of speculation regarding his shoulder since the post-draft camp, and the issue seemingly was not an issue as recently as last week when offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg raved about the quarterback's zip and accuracy during Thursday's practice.

However, the discomfort is enough to take some precautionary action. Reid will update the situation early this afternoon.

He needs to put the weights down, he's big enough to play the QB position. Just from experience you can work through shoulder tendinitis but it will never heal without rest. 1-2 months should do the trick.

lol @ lito being average 1/3 of the time he plays...

I agree.  It's not very funny.  But, it's true.  How many game-changing plays are made by Lito, especially in comparison to Westbrook?

It's really unfair to compare game changing plays a RB makes compared to a CB.  Lito gets maybe 7-10 passes thrown in his direction a game.  Westbrook touches the ball around 20 times a game.  He also has guys infront blocking for him where Lito has refs eyeballing him to ensure he's not illegally contacting a reciever, interfering with them, holding, etc, etc.

Having said that, Lito's still got a few game changing plays notched under his belt.

Dec 16, 2007 @ Dallas:

Cowboys leading 3-0 in the 2nd qtr and were on a 4 minute, 8 play drive an in Eagles territory.  On 3rd and 4 at the Eagles 40, Sheppard intercepted a pass at the 35 yd line and returned it 16 yards to the Dal 49.  The Eagles took possession with 2:40 remaining in the half and scored the go-ahead td with 0:04 left.  Eagles won 10-6

Dec 4, 2006 vs Carolina:

Eagles leading 27-24 with 0:28 seconds left in the game.  Carolina has 1st and goal on the 7 yard line and Sheppard intercepted a pass in the endzone to save the game.

Oct 8, 2006 vs Dallas:

Eagles leading 31-24 with 0:31 left in the game.  Dallas has 2nd and goal from the 6 yard line and Sheppard intercepts a pass in the endzone and returns it 102 yards for a td to seal the game.

Dec 19, 2004 vs Dallas:

Eagles leading 12-7 in the 4th quarter with 1:57 left in the game and Sheppard intercepts a pass on the Eagles 36 yard line.  Dallas never gets the ball back.

Obviously he's had more interceptions that those and all interceptions have the potential to be game changing but these are plays he made in the 4th quarter with the game on the line.  And I'm sure he's got a few pass breakups that have stopped a key drive and helped change the course of a game as well.

Point is that Lito does make a difference when he's on the field.  Those 4 games were wins specifically because of his playmaking ability in the clutch.  And 3 of them were against a division rival.

I don't see where my point has been dis-proven whatsoever.  Lito is not a reliable player due to injury, and he is not consistently a game-changing performer when he's playing.  At his best, he is truly elite, but all things taken into account, he's just pretty good.

It's funny - if the Eagles had given Lito a big extension and not signed Samuel, some of the same people would be decrying the move.

SunMo

name any corner who is consistently game-changing...you can't, it's not the nature of the position
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Asante Samuel made more game-changing plays in one game against the Eagles last year than Lito made for the Eagles during the whole season.

I don't really care about the signing at all. I just think there are other useful things that could have been done with the money.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

they would have a right to bitch about lito getting a big extension...but because of his injuries not because he isnt an excellent corner when he does play

Ditto.  I like Samuel but he doesn't bring anything to the table that Lito doesn't other than a cleaner bill of health.

Why are health/injury problems dismissed as if they don't count?
