You're right.  There's a line even I shouldn't cross and I did.

Sorry.

did someone hold a gun to his head and force him to say this crap? there is absolutely no reason for him to say this.

who is he speaking to anyway? i mean who is the target audience? the ticket holders? is he trying to ease their minds with this crap? maybe since they make money every yr they have deluded themselves into thinking the fan is that dumb and doesn't know the difference between a BAD team in a HORRIBLE conference.

heckert almost makes me glad the eagles did not beat the patriots and makes me wonder if i should be happy about that win over dallas.

the goal is to sell tickets and jackets, this much we can agree on, right??
No. Both of those types of revenue go into the communal pot for all NFL teams.
The goal is to sell Luxury boxes, in-stadium and other non-TV advertising and any peripherals like stadium food, CSN, etc.
Sorry Dio, we can't even agree on that...

actually ticket revenue is only split evenly during the post season...during the regular season the home team gets 2/3's of the profits and 1/3 goes into the nfl kitty

as for merchandise teams take a larger % of profit on items sold off their own website or their own stores (ie the linc stadium store the lancaster outlet)

the only real monotary reason to make the playoffs is to have a built in reason to raise ticket prices and to sell more gear....its these future profits they are looking for because teams actually lose money by making the playoffs since team costs outweigh the money they get for making the postseason

which poses the questions:

Do some owners intentionally keep their teams from making the playoffs in order to have the greatest profit for a season?

Do some owners want their teams to make the playoffs, have some success, but not total success (Super Bowl winner) so they can improve their team's future long term value and minimize their playoff losses?

Do some players put forth less effort in the playoffs since they only get paid a small fraction of their normal regular season salary?

This thread is probably a good microcosm for what we're going to see from the Eagles this off-season.

Pushing Brent Celek, JR Reed, Winston Justice, and Juqua Thomas on us as starters is roughly equivalent to meaningless rhetoric and mom jokes.
