First game all season I haven't watched. My only interest is how the young guys on defense looked. Bradley, Gocong, Jordan, Abiamiri, Gaither... anything good bad other?
They all did pretty good.

I'm not 100% sure who the blitzer was, I think it was Gaither, who went up the middle after Edwards who scrambled and and was forced to dump it off to the RB who was tackled by Bradley for a loss of 5.

Abiamiri came close to a couple sacks on rollouts. He moved a lot better than I thought he did. The defense came so close to a sack so many times, they could have had 5 or 6.

rjs246

But instead they had zero... troubling.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

exactly

i was essentially watching gocong and bradley on pretty much every play today....i really do like the way bradley moves...he has to be terrible to not beat out gocong in camp next year...i think the team knows this too cause he played much more than gocong and in fact there were numerous instances where they went with jordan over gocong...they even had some strange two linebacker sets with just gaither and bradley out there

omar is what he is...a solid guy and a good story for a low round pick and not much more...again any one of these guys may be acceptable if they are surrounded by a stud...but as a collective unit...no good

i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Those are called nickel packages, IGY. Watch a little closer and you might find the incredibly strange occurrence of only ONE LB on the field. I think that's called a Dime.

Jordan looked good today, but after the failed Keith Adams experiment I'll save judgment until he proves more. Let him stay on ST for the time being.

Spikes/Gaither/Gocong/Bradley/Jordan, for the first time in a while it looks like we know what LB's will be making the team next year.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Haha I think I've been to plenty of football games over my life, and certainly a few Eagles games. Sorry I don't have money enough to afford 65 dollar tickets whenever I please.

Yes, they were nickel packages, I was watching the game. And I hate to trust commentators but if that douche that called the game did anything right today he was letting people know every play who was subbin in for who and what formation it was. Apparently a lot of blind people watched the game today who couldn't just look at the screen for themselves.

But, I'm sorry, I was unaware that teams don't run 3 WR sets/defenses don't ever use nickel on first down. I really hope to see that elusive dime package one day :o

All the young LB's were makin plays and making mistakes today, stop picking on Gocong cause you've trained yourself to hate him. And I think Gaither is a lot more solid then you give him credit for.

BTW-If you're referring to the 5-2 look the run every once in a while, every LB has seen play in that formation-including the horrible Gocong. I don't blame them for putting in the rook's to get a look at them. As of right now, it doesn't "show" or "mean" anything.

Abiamiri looked like a stronger, blacker Mike Mamula. Lots of hurries, no sacks. I think he'd make a good 4th DE in a rotation with Cole/draft pick/Thomas/Abiamiri.

Abiamiri showed me something today

that he's slow as shtein?

He's not a speed rusher but he's physical and hurried the QB.

rjs246

If he can be an anchor on the end then there's a place for him on the team. Just not as a starter or pass rusher.

Justice still plays like a swinging gate.

So who is ready to see an OL drafted #1?!?!?!?!

Actually, considering how Justice has played, they need another OT desperately.

Then again, maybe he'll pull a Bunkley on us and completely turn it around next year.

ice grillin you

bunkley didnt play and suck last year...he just didnt play...justice looks completely incompetant when hes out there...going into the offseason of 07 i wasnt nearly as worried about bunkley as i am about justice going into 08...its not even close

Frankly, I think it's fairly safe to write off Justice as a backup.  Maybe he's the type of guy who can step up if he's relied upon week to week, but he obviously doesn't have the mentality to properly prepare for games that he begins as a backup.

That probably is part of the reason he slipped into the 2nd round.

Oh, and my hopes aren't too high for him as a starter either.
