Told you guys Stefanski loves the foreign players...

Good trade over all with the future in mind.  Yeah, the Sixers are in playoff "contention" right now but if they make it, it will be like when the Eagles rallied last year and won the division.  It was great at the time but kind of not really what they needed (screwed themselves out of a high draft pick) not to mention that the were no real threat to get to or even win the SB.  Same thing goes for the Sixers right now.  Even if they get in the playoffs, they aren't going anywhere and they definately won't beat just about any team the West sends there.

Korver's a nice guy to have on a championship caliber team (think Steve Kerr with Bulls and Spurs) and the Sixers are nowhere near that.  At least now by having the extra 1st round pick, it won't hurt them quite so bad if they do manage to dumb themselves into the playoffs.

i may be crazy but didn't we already have giricek at one point for a few minutes.

also, why salary dump now when they're already set up now with a lot of cap space.

also, who cares, farg korver.  i have no problems with this.

the more i thought about this last night the more i think stefanski has seen all he needs to of korver and he isnt impressed...korver doesnt make a ton of money so by basically giving him away its eddie screaming "you stink son"...dont get me wrong he likes dumping his money too but in the end it has more to do with korver as a player than with the salary

I think you're thinking of Hornicek.

More cap space is great.....as long as they use it (wisely).  Getting the extra 1st rounder doesn't hurt either.

Yes.

Possibly, yeah. I mean...all he does is hit from beyond the arc. His defense is non-existent and his season thus far has been nondescript.

But they way I look at it is Stefanski has flipped a low, low #2 into a #1. That's a win and the bonus is the salary dump. Even though they have a lot of cap space, a little more can't hurt. Especially now they don't have Billy there to give crazy deals to guys like Kenny Thomas.

Sgt PSN

Exactly.  Getting a 1st round pick for Ashton alone makes it a good deal.

Ha.  No I'm not.  I thought I remembered him and the Sixers in some kind of draft day trade, but whatever.

The more I think about this trade I like it.  I think Miller is next.

Sgt PSN

I haven't gotten to see a single game yet this year, but how's Miller's play been?  He's old and overpaid but I know once upon a time he was a damn good player.  He was pretty good last year from what I remember.  Plus, there's a ton of youth on this team right now and I think a steady veteran presence would be beyond beneficial outside of his nightly stat line.

You might be thinking of Jiri Welsch

There have been people saying that after re-signing Iguodala and Williams they'll only have around 6 or 7 million left. Not sure if it's true but it's a big reason most likely.

He isn't really that overpaid when you consider what the other PGs (that aren't on their rookie contracts) are gettnig. He started off slowly but he's back to playing really well. He's on my fantasy team and he's averaging something like 15 4 and 7.

Sgt PSN

So do you think they should trade him or keep him around?

Dillen

I'm indifferent. He does help the young players but I want to see Williams go full time eventually too.
