Don't work "hot."  That is, turn off the entire house before you swap in s new breaker.   Then, make sure you've found the correct breaker for your other projects and turn those off while you work.

Regarding fans:  the need specific workboxes that are both structural and electrical approved.  You can't just throw a fan on a regular work box and expect the connections to withstand the forces of the spinning fan.

Yeah I was gonna say hit up Dio or just hire him!

One thing I don't farg with is electric. I'll hire someone for that stuff. Anything else I'll do it at least take a shot in doing it.

Had my bathroom redone while I was on vacation early August. They turned a cramped bathroom into a 5 star hotel level bathroom. Had them knock down a wall, build a glass shower and put a separate tub in, new tiles, vanity etc. Cost around $25k and was worth every penny. Bathroom is almost double the size now.

Was putting stuff in my attic an hour ago, asked my daughter to hand me a box up which was clearly too heavy for her. I leaned down to grab it, foot on a stud...my foot slipped and partially went through the ceiling. So I'll be spending New Year's Day fixing that shtein.

Unreasonably low cost for that job.

Yeah that's a good price. Prob $5-10k lower that I'd guess without knowing materials used.

We paid about $9k to have a bunch of painting done, shiplap installed, board and batten walls in two bedrooms, bead board wainscot etc prior to moving in.

That was through one of my customers

Only way to do a job of that description at that cost (not to mention timeline) is to cut corners, many of them legal.   Some or all of the following occurred:  Contractors working outside of their trade license and insurance coverage, unlicensed contractors , employees paid cash/given 1099s, no workman's comp, no engineer review/stamp, no warranty on any of the workmanship, use of undocumented immigrant labor, someone/everyone working for cost only, permits not pulled, materials of questionable provenance, etc.

Lots and lots of work gets done that way.

It's not possible to compete on price with people who engage in some/all of these practices if you're operating legally and responsibly.

I've known the family for over 30 years. Coached football with the owner in the mid 90's (his son was our fullback and olb). They definitely gave me a good deal. They put a lot of extras in (rain style shower, custom drain since for my daughters/cloggers hair). They don't cut corners.

Yes, they do.  But hey, congrats on the cheap renovation.
