No. But the option of resignation HAS to become more and more realistic as the season falls apart.

For serious.

God, that would be great. At this point, is there a list of who would replace him? I've heard Parcells, Gruden and Cowher. With the way Tampa is playing in that division, they may make the playoffs, so Gruden might not be available. Parcells......I doubt highly, and I doubt Cowher as well, as he is going to want HUGE money and total control. We could pick up Norv Turner next week. That would be supertastic.

And Andy didn't draft Simon.

Yes, he did.  Him and Tommy Modrak.

rjs246

Really? I thought that was the year before. Oh well. Either way, farg Andy Reid.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

PoopyfaceMcGee

I think Andy was good for the team for a period of time, and they had their chances partially in response to his direction, coaching, and personnel moves.

That said, the window has closed.  Andy will never win a championship in Philly.  Neither will Donovan.

Anyway... any other injury updates?

Cerevant. McNabb turned out to be great, but picking a franchise quarterback with a top five pick is a whole different ball of wax than what this team would be picking this year.
One might argue that they should be picking a franchise QB.  If you think Kolb is the QB of the future, you are off your rocker.

Bottom line is that we have nothing on which to judge Reid/Heckert's ability to use a top 5 pick.

Playing Devil's advocate (I want Reid gone too), consider:
  • The Eagles Build through the draft
  • The Eagles don't like spending money on high-priced talent, from their own team or other teams
  • The Eagles haven't had a top 10 pick since McNabb

Wouldn't this indicate that the team has been pretty successful drafting the pieces they need to build a winning team?  This is why Reid won't be fired - he may not be great, but he's good enough.  And he doesn't embarrass the ownership like a lot of the "great" coaches are prone to do.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

If you think you honestly know that he's not any good, you are also off your rocker.

WPOTW

can you supply a link to where cobb wont be the qb of the future....im not saying he will be but how on earth could you write him off after a couple quarters of preseason football

absolutely 100% not...they hit on mcnabb and having the best qb in a horrible league is essentially what made them a winning team...ray rhodes defensive players didnt hurt either and andy has been pathetic re tooling the defense

all you need to do is look at andy player acquisitions for the last four years....the whiffs far outweigh the misses and its not just in drafting but in free agency as well

You guys crack me up.  You go on and on about how bad Reid is at drafting, yet you think that a QB who Reid drafted in the second round has a shot.

Maybe my statement was a little IGY-esque, but I don't think that Reid has the talent evaluation skills to pick a franchise player in the second round.  Reid has been drafting/signing players who are "good enough" - but not franchise players.

Mediocre talent + Mediocre coaching = Mediocre team that never gets over the hump.  The question we have to ask is, does Joe Banner think the profits from getting over the hump will exceed the cost of doing it?  I think it is probably more profitable to cycle from bad to good enough.  It is cheaper and easier to go from a sub-500 team to a playoff team than it is to go from a playoff team to a super bowl team.  However, you don't want to stay at the same level too long, or the natives get restless.  So you tank every few years and tout the improvement as you work your way back to mediocrity.

You're an idiot.  Even a blind squirrel finds a nut.  Reid drafted Westbrook, Trent Cole, and Omar Gaither, didn't he?

Just because Reid's drafting abilities are called into question (and rightfully so) doesn't mean a player he drafts automatically sucks.  That makes zero logical sense.

Cerevant

I admit it isn't logical - just cynical.

Amusing that I have both you and IGY defending an unproven Reid/Heckert draft pick.

PoopyfaceMcGee

I'm not defending Kolbsy at all.

I just find it amusing that anyone is either condemning Kolb to a career of ineptitude and/or praising Hunt as part of a 3-headed monster.  Neither player has proved anything, positive or negative.

You guys are deluding yourself.
If Andy Reid steps down, the next head coach is already on the sidelines.
He is just as arrogant, has produced far less results, and has name rhymes with Schmorningweg.
Three guesses as to who it is.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Troy McClure?
Peter Griffin?
Mickey Mouse?

I hope its Peter Griffin. He had experience with the Patriots.
