Gotta love Curtis making himself do pushups! How many guys in the NFL do you see doing that...

at Least 3

Hank Baskett did that on friday. And TO does it after each TD

22. Ryan Moats is frustrating to watch. Why? Because he can play in the NFL when you look at his speed and moves and all of that stuff. But the damn fumbling...jeez, come on Ryan. Hold onto the ball!! Whats weird is his receiving has improved big time from last year...but yet he still has the dropsies. I love his speed and vision though. Going to be a damn shame if he doesn't work out here because I think he has a future as a decent back in the NFL.

Interesting quote from Moats in the paper today:

Quote
Moats said he's trying to mimic the way Tiki Barber carried the ball late in his career, when Barber finally solved his fumbling problems.

"High, you know how Tiki carries it, overexaggerates it," Moats said. But theory obviously is one thing and practice is another.

"You start getting sweaty and sloppy, everything gets slippery. You just have to concentrate on holding it," Moats said.

"I'm just playing ball, having fun. I'm not really competing with anybody. I'm just trying to make Ryan Moats better."

Cutty cut cut.
"The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.""  R.I.P George.

He looks like he used The Force to throw Parrish to the side. Amazing clip.

And Westbrook usually gets 20 "touches" a game, but I would like to see him get at least 20 carries a game. Sure, he has great moves in the open field on screens and swing passes, but he also has great vision at the line of scrimmage and that should be used more as well. Here is hoping for good health.

Munson

I want him getting it 22 times a game. I don't care if it's run or pass, he needs to be in that 20-25 touch a game range. An 18 runs to 4-5 receptions would be a good mix.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Dillen

I can't wait until Monday. Unfortunately for me it's not on TV, maybe they'll re-air it on NFL Network or something.

Anybody going to that game? I think I'm going to end up with a pair of tickets from a guy that I work with. Going to an eagles game in baltimore is probably the closest comparison to what its like for an opposing fan in philly. Those guys are nuts and its worth the trip just to piss em off!

But they're definitly not the 700 level!

raven fans arent nuts...but its a preseason game anyway when no fans are nuts

This from the ESPN TKO article in the other thread:

QuoteThird-year WR Sheldon Brown is performing like the man the Eagles expect to be Donovan McNabb's top target this season. Check out what else Jeffri Chadiha observed at Eagles camp.

Unless most other camp observers have missed a major switch.... it shows enough about the quality of some journalists....

Phreak where were you at/what time did you get there during the morning session on Monday?

QuoteBETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Four observations from Philadelphia Eagles training camp, gleaned from Monday's practices:

2006 Season Stats Cmp Att Yds Pct TD Int

1. McNabb making progress
The Eagles had no concerns about quarterback Donovan McNabb sitting out Monday's practice. He said his surgically repaired right knee was sore, so head coach Andy Reid didn't debate the topic. The reality is that it's best for Reid to let his star signal-caller rest at certain points of the preseason, regardless of injury. Reid has been known to take a similar approach to other proven veterans during training camp, just to make sure they can stay fresh for the regular season.

McNabb's teammates feel pretty confident about his health. They've watched McNabb plant and throw with no problems and they said he's also looked comfortable cutting when scrambling.

"There's no way I could be a 100 percent right now," McNabb said. "But I feel like I'm in that 80 to 90-percent range. I'm able to do all the things I could do before I got hurt. But I'm also trying to be careful as well. Today I felt sore so I decided to sit this one out."

2. The return of Jevon Kearse

The Eagles coaches also like what they've seen from DE Kearse, who is coming off an ACL injury that ended his 2006 season after two games. Defensive coordinator Jim Johnson said Kearse has displayed enough quickness to prove that he can still be a difference-maker but, as is the case with McNabb, the staff closely monitors Kearse's practice reps to ensure he's not overworked. The last thing the Eagles need is for him to suffer a setback in his own recovery.

Kearse remains valuable to the Eagles because he's still a capable pass-rusher who also can create problems even when the quarterback leaves the pocket. His athleticism is especially vital because it allows him to thwart bootleg plays from his left defensive end position. To understand how much that means, just consider that Darren Howard, a talented pass rusher in his own right, struggled after moving from right to left end after Kearse injured his knee. Now that Kearse is back in his old spot with Howard and Trent Cole splitting time on the right side the Eagles should feel confident about their ability to get after the quarterback.

3. Brodrick Bunkley's growth

Another encouraging sign for the defensive line is the maturation of DT Bunkley. He's come into camp in better shape and Johnson said Bunkley has a stronger grasp of his role in the defense. Though the Eagles' woes stopping the run can't solely be attributed to Bunkley's struggles as a rookie -- Philadelphia ranked 26th against the run -- it's fair to say his disappointing first year didn't help much. In fact, it would be an understatement to say Bunkley was a disappointment last season.
He slipped into Johnson's doghouse by displaying poor practice habits after a lengthy training camp holdout and he also didn't understand the defense well enough to get on the field much early in the year. The former Florida State star seemed so lost at times that it seemed as if the team had a made a colossal mistake by selecting him 14th overall in the 2006 draft.

"The thing that really hurt Brodrick is that he missed most of camp last year," Johnson said. "That caused him to get off to a terrible start and he never really had much confidence. So far, he's been as good as can be expected. It's taken him a year to learn the techniques we want him to use but he certainly looks like a different player right now."

4. Spotlight on Reggie Brown

Don't be surprised if this third-year wide receiver enjoys a breakout season. That seems to be the sentiment among his teammates, many of whom say he's become a more polished player during the offseason. Brown always had obvious potential -- he caught 46 passes for 816 yards and eight touchdowns in 2006 -- but now he's clearly performing like the man the Eagles expect to be McNabb's top target this season.

As Eagles cornerback Sheldon Brown said, "He's really improved his quickness and his separation. I'm not trying to put Reggie in the same category as Marvin Harrison, but Reggie is running his routes with the same type of smoothness."

Brown's progress is crucial to the Eagles' offense because there will be so many new faces in different positions at receiver. The Eagles will use Kevin Curtis, a former St. Louis Rams backup who signed with Philadelphia during the offseason, as the other starter while second-year veteran Jason Avant has practiced well enough to be the front-runner for the third receiver spot. The fourth receiver spot likely will go to Hank Baskett unless Greg Lewis is able to unseat him.

If Reggie Brown could develop into a legit #1 WR, the Eagles will finally be set at the WR position without having to sign a nutcase to do so.
