i'm not really a dog person but my family has finally worn me down about getting a dog.  we're looking at a lab mix...possibly a lab/golden retriever mix.  good choice?  i don't know a damn thing about dogs so this should go really well.

really the only choice...actually an argument can be made for eliminating all species of dog from the planet except for labs

well, that's about as strong a "yes" as i'll ever read.  :yay

If you're getting a Lab puppy just be prepared, they're a lot of work. I had one growing up. He was easy to house break but he chewed everything.

we're going to see them tomorrow & they're actually part of a program at the pennsyltucky state & federal prisons where the inmates train them...so the pups should be fully crate trained & house trained by the time we get them.  plus, they'll have mad street cred from already doing time.  if i see one with a tattoo tear, that's the one we're getting.  >:(

I have one and already had to pay $3700 to pull out a ping pong ball sized rock, wood, fabric, dirt and some couch cushion. the vet couldn't believe the dog didn't choke to death on the rock.

he's still healing up and I caught him with two more rocks.

you literally cannot not turn your back for a second with this dog.

good times.

Last few weeks the neighbors have been telling me there's a groundhog that's been making its way through the backyards and terrorizing their dogs. Little farger picked the wrong yard tonight. I heard my dog rustling around out back followed by some squeals, get out there and the little farger was dead. Called the Vet to see if I should bring him in in the morning for a rabies check but he said since he just got all of his shots a month ago he's good to go.

Was it that little farger from the PA lottery commercials? I hope so

Haha.  Those commercials are terrible.  On par with The General insurance commercials.  Gotta make it as appealing to poor unedumacated folk as possible.

I could've brought Jr's dog over to dig a hole to bury it in. that's all he does in my yard so he could've been useful for once.

I would have poured some gasoline on it and lit it up.

Same farging Rottweiler that I left a note about comes running out of its backyard again off its leash. Leaps at my dog and is being aggressive. I wrapped the leash tight with my left hand so my dog wouldn't get hurt. I kicked at the dog and the farging thing snapped at me. So I let my dog loose, my dog took this thing down in a split second. No biting, just pounced on the dog and held it down. I pulled my dog off and the Rott ran a few feet away and just looked at us. So I started walking away and it just stood there watching us. I inspected my dog when we got home, no scratches bites or anything. Filed a police report. Told them I still have a copy of the note I left them if they'd like to see it. These people live across the street from my daughters school in a $400,000 + house. I can't understand how'd they be this irresponsible.
