i wouldn't get it because i'm a white guy from the suburbs of philly who has no fargin clue what it's like to live in a crime-infested inner city hell hole.

and i have no interest in finding out either.

The Wire is probably the best made show that I've seen.  The secondary characters like Slim Charles, Bodie, Colvin, Cutty, Wee-Bay, etc are better than the major characters on most shows.

I still like Lost the most but I have no problem admitting to being completely obsessed with that show, bordering on IGY with The Wire.

I finished the series.  Ep 9 and 10 were very strong in what was a mediocre 5th season in my opinion.

I know I'm in the minority but I'd rank the seasons:
3
4, 1, 2
5

I liked Stringer and Avon's story so much I just didn't feel the show was the same without them on screen.  I didn't like season 5 as much just because I didn't like the journalism side story that much and I thought the homeless "killings" got a little ridiculous.  It did do a lot to push Joe and Charles pretty high up on my favorite characters list.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

back in 07 when igy made the wire thread season 5 was coming out. I never had the desire to watch the thing, nor did I ever once click into the thread as I thought it was just another 21 jumpstreet type of cop beats bad guy thing... but on HBO.

it wasnt until one day 2 weeks ago I was in the airport and saw all of the seasons sitting there for $60/piece. I bought season 1 for the hell of it to see if I would like it.

I have to say this was one of the most addicting series/tv shows I have ever watched in my life. luckily my boy had the other 4 seasons and the rest was history. fascinating story I know...but just wanted to say appreciate it for leading me on to it
