LOL - I guess I am in the minority.    :-D

I don't go to as many games as the rest of you but every game I've been to at the Linc has been enjoyable for me.  I've hated the losses, obviously, but the fans seem the same to me especially where I sit.  There's none of the hoity-toity crap going on that some of you are talking about.  Maybe it's because a lot of 700 level fans moved downstairs when the SBL options became available but in all honesty, I really don't see a difference where I am.

Eh - it could be that I'm usually shtein-faced through the first half but I love it at the Linc.

I feel the same way about the Wachovia Center vs. the Spectrum for Flyers games. I LOVED going to the Spectrum for FLyers games. It was gritty, ghetto and awesome. It WAS how Flyers hockey was and the Wachovia Center took a lot of that away from the team.

I'll contradict myself here and agree with you guys about the Spectrum.  Nothing compared to that place in terms of intensity, especially during Flyers games.  I'd get chills just walking into the place back then.

Not to threadjack here or anything, but was anyone else at Game 6 of the Finals vs the Oilers in 87?

My ears took weeks to get back to normal.

The only thing I like about the Linc over the Vet is the bathrooms.   The Vet bathrooms may have been worse than a 3rd world country prison.    As far as the game experience itself I really dont enjoy the Linc as much.   I guess my section is not as good fan wise as yours Rome.  I have been to most of the games at the Linc since it opened and for many of the games the fans in my section dont even stand up and cheer.  In fact, I have given up even yelling at them anymore for being douche bags because it is a waste of energy.

RJS is on point, i loved the feeling at games back in the old Vet.  It was almost intoxicating.  Now you get yelled at to shutup if your cheering or berating opposing players.  The vet had that Gritty feeling that i think the true fans enjoyed.

Eh, there were still people there that yelled at you for standing and cheering in the lower bowl of the Vet.
Thats precisely why i always went to the 700 level.  I didnt even go to an eagles game till i was 18.  After the first one in 99, i went to 4 more games that year alone.

Unfortunately, no.  I watched that game at Kix Lounge in Sea Isle.  There were 250 people watching the game on the old projection screen.

When J.J. Daigneault scored the entire bar erupted.  Never heard anything quite like that before or since.

That's a real shame.  I can only imagine the reaction at the Vet if someone pulled that nonsense.

One of my favorite bathroom memories of the Vet was the last regular season game against Washington in 2002 or 2003.  I was waiting in line for what i thought was a urinal, by the time i get to the front of the line to go, i realize everyone was peeing into an airduct that someone had unscrewed.  You could see rats moving around in the hole.  The guy who was in front of me said, its the last home game so who cares.  He had forgotten that we had playoffs and an entire phils season left  :-D

Only way it could have been nastier at the vet is if they set up the bathrooms like they do in UDel's football stadium, were you stand on a concrete slab and piss on the wall.
I'm not from Philly but some say I'm blunt.

Rome

Speaking of pissing against the wall, I, along with about 50 other drunks, was pictured in the Inquirer in the late '80s doing exactly that along one of the side streets off of Pattison.

The cops just laughed at us.  Today, they'd lock your ass up for that kind of shtein.

UD's yellow walls are awsome.  Going to Dover Downs though, you pee into a Trough(sp?)
