MURP

seems like forever ago and it seems like yesterday.   For all of the horrors it wrought, I loved that place.

I'll never forget my first game there in 96.  It may have only been 11 years ago...but the first of many great days at The Vet!  I was so pissed about there being a blackout that i drove down from Reading and just bought a scalped ticket in the 500 level.  I was addicted to live football games after that.

I was addicted to live, in-person after that.

After my first Vet game as an adult, I went to the Fantasy Showbar in Mount Ephraim 'cause you could get in for free with the ticket stub.  I too was addicted to live, in-person after that.   :paranoid
I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage
I found that just surviving was a noble fight.
I once believed in causes too,
I had my pointless point of view,
And life went on no matter who was wrong or right.

For some reason I always felt the need to check my cornhole when I went in there.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

How could those fargs be cheering. That was a sad moment. The vet was truly one of sports 7 wonders.

I miss the advantage the turf gave the Eagles and that's about it.

I don't miss the lousy seats, (even mine in 302 were zesty) the crappy food, the watered down piss warm beer, the filthy rest rooms and the smell of puke everywhere.

I understand the nostalgic impulses here and I share them occasionally but what we have now is 100 times better in terms of stadiums.  That's my opinion, anyway.

no way....i guess if you go to football games for the food the linc might be better...

the only thing better about the linc is shorter and faster bathroom lines (at least where i sit)

now if youre talking about the bank then i agree its a million times better than the vet...but for football its not even close

I attended the inaugural Phillies game at the Vet with my Dad in 1971 & the 2nd-to-last Phillies game with my daughter in 2003.  In between those two dates, I saw hundreds of Phillies games, countless Eagles games, and several concerts.  At one time, we all thought the Vet was the most beautiful stadium in the world.  Sadly, it became run-down & shabby towards the end.  Although jack-off Jeff Lurie once proclaimed the place a "dump" it was still our dump, and I, for one, am gonna miss seeing it when I drive westbound over the Walt Whitman Bridge from Jersey.

RIP, old friend.

Like I said, I still feel nostalgic about it because of all the memories I have from the place.  I guess I'm the only one here who absolutely loves The Linc and The Bank.  I know I love my seats at The Linc better than the ones at the Vet.  The "stadium experience" to me is no different in terms of the fans because I'm still surrounded by people who love the Eagles as much as I do.

Anything that increases the number of snooty, wine-sipping douchebags at a football game is bad. Therefore No Vet = Bad.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

RJS is on point, i loved the feeling at games back in the old Vet.  It was almost intoxicating.  Now you get yelled at to shutup if your cheering or berating opposing players.  The vet had that Gritty feeling that i think the true fans enjoyed.

Eh, there were still people there that yelled at you for standing and cheering in the lower bowl of the Vet.

yep...the atmosphere is sterile at the linc...the vet kept it gutter the way it should be for football...i know what romey is saying about nostalgia but that doesnt apply here imo...since day one at the linc a lot of people wanted the vet back...nostalgia takes place way down the road...this is about the actual real life atmosphere and experience at the game and the linc falls way short of the vet in that department
