Don't worry.  I heard Mitch Williams is coming back to close games.

wow if kendrick is a two next year they are in more trouble than i even imagined

number two or number three...it doesnt matter what number you tag him for. The only slots that matter are #1 (for opening day, your ace, match up with the opponents ace...etc....) and your #5 (because they get skipped the most often if you have a manager that uses the off day to skip a weak pitcher).  Kendrick has the stuff to be in the rotation next year. He's not an ace by any means, but he's no worse than just about every other FA starting pitcher you will whine about the phillies won't sign.

Right now he's the second best started the phils have.

kendrick has no stuff...he gives up more hits than innings and cant strike me out...at some point he will be caught up to and taken down a few notches to the #5 pitcher he is...it will probably be this year but if not then next

the bottom line is if this guy is in the top three of the rotation next year its another missed playoff year
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

barring a trade, it's: king, wife beater, moyer, kendrick, eaton

playoffs be gone.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Would've happened already imo. He's had 11 starts which is more than enough for teams to get a good scouting report on him. I know, at some point he's gonna have a bad game and you're going to say over and over how bad he is...I can already see the 'I told you so'. He's a location pitcher - not a strikeout guy. I'll take a low era over k's all day every day. And as of right now, he's pitching better than all of our starters (except Hamels of course).

And for the sake of argument, yes they need another starter. An ace or at least a solid #2 is the most pressing offseason need.

ice grillin you

he hasnt faced any team more than once and hasnt faced more than half the league at all

maybe hes a top of the rotation guy...i dont see it tho...and its waaaaaay to early to annoint him as such...11 career starts?....come on

Top of the rotation guy? Hell no, that's not what I meant. I see him as a solid #3/#4 on a good team (3 on the Phils). As of right now, he's #2 behind Hamels. Moyer would get the nod come playoff time (hypothetically if they made it) but as of right now Kendrick is our 2nd best starter. Every start he's given the given the team a chance to win.

Ok...he's given up 71 hits, in 69.2 innings. only walked 17 batters. his WHIP is 1.27, not a bad number.

Don't forget he also has given up more than 5 ER once.

He's a solid pitcher.

i guess i misunderstood you what you meant when you said hes the "real deal"...i also consider the top of the rotation the top 3

im not saying he hasnt gone far above what anyone could have expected...and im not daying he wont be the phils #2 next year....im saying if he is they are in big big trouble...i like the kid hes got a ton of moxy...i just think he has borderline major league stuff and at some point hes gonna get exposed...

i wasnt or didnt mean to speak ill of him more so the phillies chances next year if hes a key cog in their rotation

I wouldn't mind Kendrick as a bottom of the rotation guy next year. His sinker ball induces a lot of ground outs which is needed in CBP -- where a long fly ball can turn into a HR.

That being said, The Phils will only have a roster spot open for one more starting pitcher, considering Eaton's salary will demand a spot in the starting rotation and Moyer is still getting paid a cool $5 million next year. And in all likelihood, if Myers proves that he cannot be consistent as a closer every night, he might be moved back to the rotation.

So the earlier prediction of Hamels, Myers, Kendrick, Moyer, Eaton for next year's rotation sounds very plausible. Which doesn't really strike me as much of a top of the line rotation. It really depends on a lot of things (Moyer's effectiveness, whether Eaton can stop throwing meatballs down the plate, Kendrick adjusting to hitters adjusting to him, etc.)

But one thing Kendrick has is a good demeanor. He doesn't seem to get rattled, keeps the team in games, and usually pitches out of jams well.

yeah its almost uncanny how kendrick gets out of games...he gives up a decent number of baserunners but somehow always seems to escape the big inning

I'm still unsure of what to do with Myers. They need a starter but Myers seems to love the closing role and his stuff is nasty in one inning. Though more nights like last and... :boom

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Holy shtein. Braves bat around in the FIRST. Hamels getting lit up. 4-0 Braves after half an inning.

Let the reality check begin.
