New Staff Ace Durbin eight strong now, still 9-0.

The only thing that would keep Manuel from letting Durbin go the ninth would be worries about pinch count.  From the Yahoo boxscore, he's only thrown 95, so I would guess Uncle Cholly sends him out for the ninth.

Also, Howard went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI and 2 walks.  Average up to .279, hitting over .360 for the month (.359 coming into today).

If LA can hang on, your Phillies would be only 4 games out in the East, and 3.5 in the wild card. Feel the mediocrity.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Durbin gets the 5-hit shutout, though the Phils' defense didn't make it easy.

Durbin's shutout lowered his ERA to 5.76!

I am. the whole series. I'm getting ready to mail them a box of kleenex. I guess they have to divert their team's offensive woes on something.

the one cat actually said that they need to send a video of the game to the comissioners office

i, for one, am happy that i was able to witness the beginning of the J.D. Durbin era
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Games like today make sitting through their bumbling 1-run losses even more infuriating.

Eaton gives up 2 ER in 5.2 IP, gets the win.

Moyer gives up 4 in 6.2, gets the win.

Durbin shuts out the Padres.

The only pitcher that didn't get a win was Hamels, and he pitched well enough to win (1 IP in 7 IP).

Phillies starting pitching collectively went 28.3 innings with 7 earned runs, for an ERA of 2.22.

Point?  The Padres' offense sucks!  :D

Bums own the Padres, not sure of the exact stats but I don't think they've lost a series to them in quite some time (last 5-10 years or something like that).

FYI their new stadium sucks.

Sarge made some good observations about Durbin, he's not flailing on his delivery and instead keeping everything in tight. Also, what I think is the biggest factor is he's taking a lot more time between pitches. Doubt he's able to keep this up but who knows maybe they corrected his weakness and he'll be able to keep them in some games.

San Diego won both series last year

Mets have a 5-4 lead, bottom of the 10th
