San Diego will be equally motivated though.

Nice win for the bums tonight.  Loshe pitched a damn good game.  Take that and add in a Mets loss plus Wags sucking ass in the 9th and it's been a pretty good day.

1 game back.   :paranoid

Figure Phils gotta at least get to a 1 game playoff if they win out. They way the Mets are playing, Colorado/Arizona series, Padres with 4 games in Milwaukee....they've all got to lose at least a few games.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Do you really believe that the Phils will win out?

Rosenthal picks Rollins as MVP... for now.

Here's his top 10:

1. Jimmy Rollins, Phillies
2. Prince Fielder, Brewers
3. Matt Holliday, Rockies
4. David Wright, Mets
5. Chase Utley, Phillies
6. Chipper Jones, Braves
7. Ryan Howard, Phillies
8. Jake Peavy, Padres
9. Todd Helton, Rockies
10. Miguel Cabrera, Marlins

Homer alert

And I love Howard but he shouldn't get MVP consideration.

I'd love to see Rollins get it but the most worthy candidate is Prince Fielder.

ice grillin you

the david wright mvp talk is sickening...hes had a very good year but nowhere close to the other top guys....and hes hit into 17 double plays in the last week for a team thats folding like an accordian
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

The Wright for MVP talk has really faded the past few weeks. I think Rollins has a good chance based on the fact that Philly and the local media is pushing for him whearas Fielder is just kind of there.

Rome

I can't believe that the Rockies have won 10 straight games.  I mean, they were done a week ago.  DONE.  And now they're tied with the Phillies.  And hell, the Phillies haven't even played badly either.  They've gone 7-3 in the last ten, which for this group, is almost as shocking.

As far as the MVP talk goes, I couldn't care less if I tried.  It's a meaningless award that was created to perpetuate interest in the game after the World Series concluded.  The fact that players win the award from teams that didn't even make the playoffs is indicative of how big a sham the award is.

I just want the Phillies to finally get over the hump.  That's all I give a farg about now.

Rollins never takes a night off and has been here over the years through thick and thin, plus he did put himself out there in the beginning of the season. If the bums do make the playoffs I think him winning the MVP - despite what they do in the playoffs - would be great for the city.

what on gods earth are you talking about....baseball stats and awards are the most sacred in all of sports...the reason the mvp garners so much interest is because its a big friggin deal to people

steroids is such a monster deal in baseball vs other sports is because of the records

If they can win tonight, yea, they should be able to run through the Nationals. The tough part is tonight, especially considering I'm probably going to the game and the Phils are 0-3 or 0-4 at games I've been to this year.

You make it sound like the city is a kid dying of cancer, and his one wish is to see Jimmy win the MVP.
