Romey...who else does he have? They ALL have been getting ripped. Put Madson in and the same thing happens. Zagurski, Sanches, Mesa? Romero looked half decent but he still loaded 'em up before getting out of it.

Technically, you can't put Sanches into that group.  In his limited innings, his ERA is 2.35.

Of COURSE he'll eventually get lit up (he is in the Philly bullpen, right?), and of COURSE his BB/K ratio is 1/1, but he's not officially in the rag-arm group yet.

And, on the plus side, Durbin brought his ERA all the way down to 11.57!  :yay

ice grillin you

then get Myers and Gordon back to solidify the bullpen

the closer spot isnt the problem...its getting to the closer spot...

gordon is toast

its a travesty that they wont bring myers back into the rotation where they need the most help...he should have never been made a closer to begin with...not only did it get him injured and probably will again but a sp is always more valuable than a rp

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

J.A. Happ's major league debut may not make it out of the first inning.

PoopyfaceMcGee

4 K's and no walks through 2 innings for Happ.  The rest of the stat line isn't so great.

Phillies are finally scoring a few runs, though.

Notes: Geary optioned to Triple-A

Phillies hoping reliever can work out his flaws in Ottawa
By Ken Mandel / MLB.com

PHILADELPHIA -- Geoff Geary knew his performance had been lacking, but he didn't see this one coming -- which explains the humbled and pained look on his face.

With a roster move needed to activate Saturday's starter J.A. Happ, the Phillies optioned Geary to Triple-A Ottawa and decided to keep J.D. Durbin in the bullpen, as they sort out who, Durbin or Happ, will remain in the starting rotation. The Phillies don't need a fifth starter again until July 17 or the fifth game after the All-Star break.

"It didn't [cross my mind], and it's so wrong for me to think that way," Geary said. "But I guess in the past, I was always on top of stuff. But this year, I let my guard down. The grim reaper got me."

While Geary's one Minor League option made him easier to send out -- rather than risk losing a live arm such as Durbin -- general manager Pat Gillick said the move was largely based on performance.

"He needs to get straightened out to where he was," Gillick said. "There's nothing wrong with him physically. He just has to work out a few mechanical problems, and we think he's better served working them out in Ottawa. We're not in a position where we can allow people to work their problems out in games."

Geary started the season strong, posting a 1.50 ERA in his first 17 games, and he was manager Charlie Manuel's most reliable arm in jams. Since May 11, the right-hander posted an 8.57 ERA in 20 games, allowing 44 baserunners in 21 innings and giving up six home runs.

After a forgettable night in Cleveland on June 18, Geary shaved his goatee and cut his hair, hoping that might change his fortunes. He logged three scoreless appearances after that, but he allowed five runs on seven hits in 2 1/3 frames, spanning his final two appearances.

That brought him to Saturday's decision.

"There's no reason to blame anybody but myself," Geary said. "Maybe going down will kind of switch up my mindset. It's a little bit of everything.

"It's how baseball is. I don't have anything really to say about it. I'm going to go down there, and I'll see you guys soon."

ice grillin you

this is now officially an embarrassment of epic porportions

national tv and these announcers are just destroying the team...no top FA pitcher will ever sign here...theres no pitchers close in the minor leagues...10,000 losses...1977 choke job recap...i cant believe how incredibly biased mccarver has been this game...i feel as tho im watching the mets feed..and jesus could there be more mets fans there...the chants are sickening...phillie fans will go for hot dogs or college specials but not to stop the met fans from taking over their stadium

did anyone see the utley error play...mccarver goes on and on about loduca's amazing baserunning...they have a spotlight slow mo close up on him going around the bases...then after thats all over mccarver says "just an ugly play by the phils"....well which is it icehole...a great baserunning play or terrible fielding...mccarver wants it to be both so he can big up the mets and kills the phils all in one

as if the team itself isnt a joke on their own you got suposedly unaffiliated announcers making it worse for the phils...the offense is brain dead as usual and cole hamels came up so short this series...youre surrounded by durbin happ and kendrick knowing you pretty much have to win but even if not at least go deep as the pen is gonna get worked in the series and what do you do...you come out and throw 90 pitches in 5 innings...disappointing to say the least...king still has a ways to go in being an ace

im so mad right now its not even funny

I liked the FOX shots of Gillick playing with things and looking bored.

27 innings and the Phils haven't had a lead yet.  F'ing pathetic.  Oh yeah....Oliver Cy Perez tomorrow

Rome

I turned the game off after hearing McCarver's verbal fellatio on Lo Duca.

He sounds like a one-man cheering section in the booth, and yeah, it's farging irritating.  It's almost as irritating as hearing Mets fans cheering in that place.  Of course, if the team on the field actually did anything to stop them, it would be moot, but just like always the Phillies come up small in big situations.

farging corksucking losers.

ice grillin you

I turned the game off after hearing McCarver's verbal fellatio on Lo Duca.

it really was sickening...he went from first to third on a hit that went to RF...then he went home on a terrible throw...what the farg was so great about that??...and they showed the replay like 5 times

and the inning before when loduca poked the single up the middle to center mccarver goes "great hitting by a great hitter"

and early in the game after the delgado comment on the loduca interview controversy: "perfect answer by carlos"

:puke :puke :puke

The BIGSTUD

There weren't that many Mets fans there. The Phillies sucking just magnified it because these losers give the Phils fans nothing to cheer about.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

bowzer

Is the game at 1:35 or 8:05 PM???

I thought it was changed to 8:05, but I guess it was changed back???
