Anyone had a crappy meal at a cheap joint lately?

Yeah I went to D's SixPax & Dogz this week. Great Pittsburgh place, great dogs, great beer. But their main dog is a Chicago dog. I just don't understand the concept of that dog, and it doesn't look appealing. Maybe like IGY I need to try it to understand.

I went for a chili cheese dog. No problems comprehending that one.

I haven't had the one at Steak & Shake.    There's a place here in town used to sell them.  The owner was from Chicago and had everything flown in (Vienna dogs, poppy rolls, etc.).

Like everyone else I'm a New York dog kinda guy.  Sabrett dogs, cooked onions & spicy brown mustard for me.

Quote from: SunMo on June 12, 2011, 12:50:58 PMthey had great wings though.  huge things that came out as the wing and leg connected.  really good.

I've been to a few places that do that, and I have to say that I'm against it. Eating regular wings can get messy, but with the big ones it's unavoidable. Half of the wing is jutting out at like a 70 degree angle from the rest of it. The whole table starts looking like a chicken holocaust. The amount of work to get the meat goes up too, like I'm at a crab shack or something. I just want some farging regular hot wings.

Maybe some places (like Moriarty's) have figured out how to do it well, but everytime I've had the big ones I've just wished I had a larger quantity of normal sized wings.

Speaking of wings, last weekend I was driving through Buffalo and stopped at Duff's on a friend's recommendation. Unfortunately they had a one-hour line and I was just passing through town, so I didn't have the time to kill. Anyone been?

I've had deep fried hot dogs before.  Not a fan.  I don't think that's the way God intended them to be eaten.  It's like the Chicago style dogs.  Putting tomatoes & pickles on hot dogs is just too weird for me, even though I've had them and they're surprisingly delicious.  Yes, I'm weird.

i'm in Chicago a lot these days and am really starting to warm to the chicago dogs. the pizza i still can't appreciate but the dogs are really good. i'm in awe of the unnatural color of their relish.

i was in a rush this afternoon so had to bang out a quick lunch at mcdonalds. they have a new thing called the daily double, which is just a double cheeseburger with lettuce tomato onions etc. $1.89. i'd eat it again.

Sgt PSN

So it's the McDouble, which costs $1 and comes with pickle and onions, and are charging you an extra 89 cents for a piece of lettuce and a tomato slice.
