Supposedly Dallas matched the offer, it was on the NFL Network ticker. Although it didn't say matched, it just said signed.

It was never about affording Donte.  Jesus, you haven't figured this out yet?  They didn't want him, certainly not for big money (even if the Pats deal wasn't that big, more than the Birds were willing to pay).  Hopefully Curtis is the awesum (and actually signs here).
Anyone but Reid.

ice grillin you

thats jerry jones not wanting a division rival to take one of his players no matter how awful he is....thankfully hes dumber than the eagles are...the eagles should wake up every morning and give thanks that jerry jones and danni snyder are in their division

I checked and Dallas did not match it. It was definitely a typo. All it said was "Dallas agrees to terms with a 4 year deal with RFA linebacker Ryan Fowler."

That doesn't sound like matched at all. It should've just said Eagles.

Nashville City Paper

QuoteFowler picks Eagles over Titans
By Terry McCormick, tmccormick@nashvillecitypaper.com
March 11, 2007

Restricted free agent linebacker Ryan Fowler, who visited last week with the Tennessee Titans, agreed to a four-year, $10.5 million offer sheet with the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

"Tennessee was very competitive with Philadelphia. The offers were identical," agent Alan Herman said. "But in the end, Ryan decided to go to Philadelphia, because he thought that would be a better situation for him."

The Titans had wanted Fowler to come in and compete with Stephen Tulloch for the starting middle linebacker position.

Fowler had been an undrafted free agent backup with the Dallas Cowboys, who have seven days to match the offer sheet or surrender Fowler to the Eagles.

can't wait for spadaro's take on this. a solid linebacker and special teams whiz! will def. give the starters a run for their moneyz!@

Since you asked...

QuoteThe Eagles researched the kid and found a player who is a hard worker, who is a physical player, who has a lot of smarts and desire and hustle and athletic ability.

He has made a career from nothing, and he has worked his way from the bottom up. Fowler was not drafted out of Duke. He made the Cowboys by working his butt off and by learning the Cowboys' scheme.

In three starts in 2005, Fowler contributed a total of 16 tackles, three for loss. The Eagles liked what they saw when they studied him and made an offer. Fowler signed with the Eagles rather than with Tennessee. He wants to be here. Fowler made that clear in his Friday press conference.

How would he fit in? Well, at 250 pounds, Fowler is likely a middle linebacker or a SAM linebacker. He would have a chance right away to be a core member of special teams. And he would have a chance to earn substantial playing time at linebacker, a position the Eagles want to improve.

So ... we have to wait a little bit longer to see if he actually becomes an Eagle, but Fowler might be the most disappointed guy in the state of Texas if he stays a Cowboy.

The Eagles want to upgrade the linebacker spots. Fine with me. They weren't good enough last year, none of them. So the upgrade begins with a young player you may not know much about, but one you may learn about very, very quickly.

It's shtein like this that makes me irrate. How does someone without an ounce of writing talent, creativity or football insight make a living out of writing exclusively about football? farg him.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

theres no question that at that money they are bringing this guy in to compete for the mlb job...its just not possible they are paying this cat that much to be a special teamer

but Fowler might be the most disappointed guy in the state of Texas if he stays a Cowboy.
