Strange, because I thought I worked hard to lose it, due to professional reasons.  Guess not.  Oh well, farg 'em then.

I was a little surprised, too.  I guess living in Florida for the last 14 years hasn't changed me as much as I'd thought.

NGM

Midland, Philly second.

On a related note, farg dallas.

QuoteYou may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."
Northeast 1st (surprise surprise)
Philadelphia 3rd

I don't call carbonated drinks pop. This test farging sucks.

Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

The Midland? I don't even know what that means, and wasn't even paying attention to half the questions.

I do find myself saying "iggles" a lot, though.

E! A! G! L! E! S! Iggles?

no doubt. i mean, i did grow up 10 minutes outside the mean streets of oak lane.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Good.

Munson

Midland. Strange since I live in Wilmington. Maybe I have a slight twinge of Cancer and AIDS in my accent or something.

Philly second, Inland North 3rd.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Midland for me, too.

The West and Boston and number 2 and 3, respectively.

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

Apparently I've been working on my non-regional diction.

Sounds about right. A bit of UK English (as  that was taught in school), much of Lancaster County PA mixed with Pittsburgh (closest friends during a 9 month stay were from the Pittsburgh area),  with a touch of 5 months Pacific...

Funny part was, after the first time in the US, nobody I met and spoke English with did think I was NOT a native speaker (closest they came was the Scandinavians of Minnesota). Most placed me somewhere in PA. After my second stay last year, again I was able to fool most (including most stewardesses and the like).
