Please. Stop. Posting.

Stop reading or stop whining, puss.

Igy, please prove to me that the Eagles will have enough money under the cap to give Stallworth a 6 year, 40 million dollar deal with an 18 million dollar signign bonus, and still sign some of thier other key FA's AND go out and sign some patchwork guys on defense. All this without the appropiated amount put aside for the rooke pool.

You can't.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

ice grillin you

they do and more

the gm of the team has said so on more than one occasion

every other team in the nfl at one time or another (or multiple times) during the salary cap era has done way more with way less than the eagles have this year

but youre gonna believe what you what and talk yourself into that belief with lies and theres nothing i can do to change your down syndromed brain...so please carry on and annoy someone else...preferably on the emb

$40 million is the total price of the deal and includes the $18 million bonus.  But even for arguments' sake, I'll assume the value is $58 million over 6 years total:

2007:
$18,000,000 bonus + $750,000 salary
$3,750,000 cap hit
($18,750,000 actual money to Donte)

2008:
$3,900,000 salary
$6,900,000 cap hit
From here on, salary is only money Donte receives.

2009:
$5,900,000 salary
$8,900,000 cap hit

2010:
$7,900,000 salary
$10,900,000 cap hit
($9,000,000 cap hit if cut)

2011:
$9,900,000 salary
$12,900,000 cap hit
($6,000,000 cap hit if cut)

2012:
$11,900,000 salary
$14,900,000 cap hit
($3,000,000 cap hit if cut)

Will he ever see the last two years of a deal like that without restructuring or being cut?  No way.  Will he care when he inks a contract that puts over $18 mill in his pocket in the first year?  No way.

So, the actual value of such a deal would be more like a 4 year, $36.2 million deal.

And please don't bother falling back on the "but the Eagles aren't going to do that anyway" excuse.  You're arguing that they CAN'T AFFORD to re-sign him at his requested rate, and that's just simply false.

Munson

You fail to realize that Heckert said this BEFORE Rosenhaus let it be known that Donte wants THAT much cash. I think even you weren't expecting Stallworth to be asking for that kind of top 5 WR in the NFL money.

It's funny...when Heckert or whoever else says something to the press that you like and agree with, they must be telling the truth. But any other time...they're liars. :-D

The only way they'd be able to open up enough space to do all that is by cutting some guys they probably shouldn't be cutting. After Dhani Jones and Jerome McDougle, who else is there that they can cut without a real second thought?

The most they can do is try to trade William Thomas, that'll free up a good amount of room...who else is there? And are you ready to start Justice at LT?  Thier only hope is that guys will be willing to restructure...because everything else they will do still won't free up enough to sign Stallworth to that contract AND keep some other guys AND go out and get some new guys.

They're not going te be able to free up enough money. End of story. There's a 95.5% chance that Stallworth will not be here next year. Assuming he's not here, I want Meachem in the 1st round. They'll need someone fast to play opposite Reggie Brown. They can then focus the money they have to bring in some patchwork guys on defense, re-sign thier defensive FA's, and focus the rest of the draft on defense.

FF-The argument is can they afford to sign him AND help the team in other areas? No, they really can't. I want Stallworth here bad, but I'm also worried that whatever, if any, improvements they could have made to the defense (in addition to resigning thier own FA's), will be pretty much impossible giving him that kind of money. So we'll be sitting through another terrible year of defense. The offense would have to play lights out all year (which won't happen, because Reid will be calling the plays), we'd be looking at a Clots or Chiefs like situation where we HOPE we can outscore the other team. Sure, we can hope like hell our defense does what the Colts D did and tighten up for the playoffs...but I don't see that happening.

i read it and it hurts my head...hes officially on my ignore list right behind bunkley

whats amazing is ff just showed him you can sign stallworth for little money on the cap this year and still have plenty of money to sign scrubs like thomas and mikell and other fa's if they want...but instead of recognizing that he writes war and peace

Wrong.  The cap hit for this year would be less than $4 million.

Of course it's a hick town.  But it's the first sign that says I'm in MD, and I love MD.

So it gets love.
