The Eagles obviously have a boner for Baskett and Avant, so the notion of them spending a 1st round pick on a WR is absurd.

The last thing the Eagles need is another slower big guy. Without Stallworth, they will need someone with speed.

Not to mention that Jarrett won't be there when the Eagles pick...Meachem most likely will be. I think he's projected to go right before the Eagles pick actually, but throw the Jets a bone or somethin and get him.

He's also listed at 6'3-6'4, 214 pounds, and ran a 4.39.

Unless he shares a brain with Ryan Moats...yes please.

Jarrett isn't "slow" if you've seen him play. He ran a 4.7, but he plays fast. Don't put too much stock into 40 times. Jarrett has burnt plenty of corners deep. Will he burn NFL corners deep? I don't know, but no draft pick is a sure thing. A lot of draft sites are moving Meacham and Bowe over Jarrett now because of the 40 time. If Jarrett drops to 26 I absolutely take him. If not, then I don't take receiver... period. Even if Bowe and Meacham are there. I'd like Bowe more than Meacham though.

Unless Jarrett is there this draft has to be about defense.

Phatty-Please tell us who they'll take. 8)

SD-We were assuming that last year and then out of the blue they traded for Stallworth. A WR in the first round isn't totally out of the question.

Cole-Jarrett will not be there. Draft SITES might be moving him down, but I guarentee NFL scouts aren't shoving him down the list that far. I know he's not SLOW, but again this offense needs somebody fastER then him who can stretch the field. If for some reason the NFL goes dumb and lets him fall to 26, then I'd be all for it. But they won't, and he won't, and Meachem would be an excellent pick at 26. A guy with that kind of size running a 4.39 would be a pretty big deal if someone named Calvin Johnson wasn't involved in this draft.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Completely different circumstances. They spent a 4th round pick on Stallworth while their two project receivers got their feet wet.

I don't think he'll be there either, but it definitely isn't a lock. You saw how fast Matt Jones and Chad Jackson rose the past couple years. WRs rise and fall all the time.

If Stallworth is gone and they draft a WR in the first, I won't be too pissed off.

Well, that's because you're an idiot.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Some explanations are easier than others.

ice grillin you

so munsin doesnt want to pay stallworth because supposedly it will prevent the eagles from improving the team at other spots...yet he wants to use their first round pick on stallworths position

It makes sense if you're a mildly-retarded teenager from Delaware.

PoopyfaceMcGee

True, but you live in NY and aren't even close to a teenager.

That said, I guess you'll have to go through Delaware to get to your new home.

ice grillin you

is munsin a teenager for real?

that would explain a lot

He will be nothing in the NFL.  Nothing.  I don't care what his 40 time is.

You read good. [/dur]

Is this that hard of a concept to understand? Paying Stallworth the money he's supposedly asking for will prevent the Eagles from spending much money elsewhere this year, let alone enough money to keep guys like Thomas, Peterson, and Mikell here. If Stallworth leaves, they have money to resign those guys, sign some patch work defensive guys, and draft a guy like Meachem in the first round to start along side Reggie.

If you guys are comfortable with Joselio as the #3 CB behind an oft. injured Lito, and a Sheldon Brown coming off an off year....well I guess that's your choice. If you're comfortable with Trent Cole and Darren Howard being the only two healthy DE's on the roster, again I guess that's your choice. And I guess everyone is comfortable with Reggie Brown and Hank Baskett/Jason Avant starting at WR, instead of once Stallworth is gone trying to replace him with a young, fast, big athlete.
