Garcia wins FedEx player of the week award

Favre does deserve the accolades, and he has been very humble throughout his NFL career. However, the only reason he won the FedEx player of the week is because he probably played his last game. Kitna probably should have won considering the Cowboys still had something to play for (with a little help from the Falcons) and his stats far surpassed that of Favre. Feeley had a nice game but it was completely meaningless. The only value the game had was that it kept the Eagles win streak going.

I don't mind talking about all the great things Favre has done, but when he starts winning awards that are supposedly based on merit and there are other players who far surpassed him in output, then there is a problem. He shouldn't win just because he's Brett Favre.

I like Favre also, he's been one hell of a player and will go down in history as one of the best ever. It's the way the media shoves him down our throats that makes me sick. Still, I can't dislike the guy just because the media wants to go down on his shlong every chance they get.

Favre carried the Packers for many years. He made that team what it was in the 90's.

Favre's a great player and nobody's denying that, but the annual "I might retire" nonsense when he conveniently makes a big deal about it around the Pro Bowl or the draft, then holds Press Conferences to announce he's not sure what he's going to do is all on him. He's an attention whore.

No. But I just don't like the way it was given out this week considering the objectives of the award and how the other two candidates far surpassed Favre's performance. Favre shouldn't win awards just because he is Brett Favre. That's none of his doing, but the media infatuation with him is just silly sometimes.
