Releasing or not releasing the pictures makes no difference to me. I would love to watch the digital footage that they watched live in the war room, but that's for my own curiosity. Wouldn't actually accomplish anything.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Transparency and proof to start, we have photo's or video footage of so many historical figures that were killed. This man was a significant part of history if we like it or not.

rjs246

We have proof. DNA matches are a whole hell of a lot more accurate than a picture. Transparency I guess could be argued, but to what end? I don't see the benefit, but like I said I would be fine with either. I've got no great argument against them doing it.

transparency?...you ever heard of phtotshop

as for historical purposes im sure they arent going to burn them....maybe they get released down the road maybe not but they arent going to be disposed of...i just see no reason to release them altho im with rjs in that i could care less either way...i also agree that it would be awesome to have a video of the operation...shtein i think it would be acool to just have a full 40 minute animated reenactment of the whole thing

should also make for a pretty cool movie one day
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

I do see your point rjs, just think it would end this nonsense of if he was really killed, or when he was killed. The terrorists will be trying to hit us if we do show them, or if we don't.

ice grillin you

people still believe 9/11 was an inside job and that planes didnt bring down the towers

but a photo of a dead bin laden put out by the united states military/intelligence community is going to convince the entire muslim world that hes dead

get real

Conspiracy theorists would see reasons why the photos and videos were faked, or how they "prove" that it wasn't Bin Laden.

Distributing the photos or video would not stop any of that - in fact, it would probably only serve to make it worse.

phillymic2000

There will always be conspiracy theories out there. As easy as it is to photoshop, it would be just as easy to fake dna. How the hell does anyone know it came from obl? All the country has right now is the government saying they killed him, so that's proof cause our government has never lied to us before.

if he wasnt dead hed film a video right now and put it out there to show everyone how terrible the us is and how he cant be defeated go terrorism go

but hes dead. someone shot him in the face and his mangled corpse is floating somewhere in the indian ocean. dead.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

not until a potentially photoshopped body double picture of him is put out by a straight forward up front organization like the cia

I agree collectively as a nation and as Americans, that releasing the photos may not serve a logical purpose for us moving forward, but to say that those who lost families and loved ones on 9/11 would be served no purpose in seeing the pictures is not only wrong, but offensive, too. I hope a group like the Jersey Girls makes a stink about them not being released kinda like they did with the commission report and they are released to the families, at their requests.

They made it about 20 years ago starring Charlie Sheen.

As far as the photos and video goes, yeah, it would be awesome to see them.  But there's nothing to be gained politically by releasing them.  It only stands to anger what little remains of Al Queda and their supporters.  And igy hit the nail on the head when he said that the gov't isn't going to destroy the pics or vids.  Maybe they get released in the future.  JFK's assasination photos weren't released until sometime in the mid-90's if memory serves correctly and those photos don't even come close to having the potential world wide reaction or fallout that OBL's would.

Obama made the right call by saying that he wouldn't release them because he's not going to treat it like a trophy and that we (America) don't do that.  I don't disagree one bit.

again i dont care either way

but if victims families really wanna see the photos im sure a private viewing session can be arranged...just because they lost someone in the attack doesnt give them rights that supercede the country at large the govt itself or any other individuals...if the president feels like it would be bad foreign policy to release them that then trumps the feelings of any 911 family members
